Any trade conspiracies?
Okay, I'm a Wild fan, hear me out here. Mikko Koivu is out with a hand injury and the trade deadline is fast approaching. Without Mikko, they have no captain and a much weaker offense. My idea is this: trade Brad Staubitz and a 3rd or 4th round pick to the Ducks for Saku Koivu!
Saku has leadership experience with both the Habs and Ducks and would bring all of that to St. Paul with him. When Mikko returns, you have a deadly 1-2 punch. Saku and Mikko are brothers, played together when they were younger and have a deep knowledge and understanding of the other's style of play. The Wild would be unstoppable, MUAHAHAHAHA! Okay...probably didn't need to add that last part...
Anyone else have any conspiracy theories?

Teemu was the one that wanted Saku in Duckland. Teemu gets what Teemu wants. Saku going nowhere.

Saku has so many miles on him ... 923 games and counting. He's 36, his best days are clearly behind him and he was never a big goals guy to begin with.
What the Wild need, more than anything, is some measure of consistency. One night, they look like a top-10 team; the next, they look like they'd miss the AHL playoffs.

923 is a lot of games. Saku would be at about 1,100 if not for his illness a few years back. He probably has 1-2 left and that's it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see he and Teemu ride off into the Helsinki sunset at the end of this season. At this point in their careers, that seems like something that would mean a lot to each of them.

OK, here's my far fetched trade thought.
Rick DiPietro is a Rhode Island guy, so he'd make sense in Boston except for that ridiculous contract that doesn't look that bad if he gets healthy. Tuukka Rask is on the outs in Boston. Tim Thomas looks to be the #1 goaltender for a couple of years and then a healthy DP could take over.
Boston also has some bad contracts on its books. Patrice Bergeron and Michael Ryder are both seriously overpaid and both have a few years left on their deals.
If it could be done, I would send the Bruins Rick DiPietro and Zenon Konopka and out 2011 1st and 3rd round pick for Rask, Bergeron, Ryder and Brad Marchand.
We trade a $6 million deal with 8 years left on it for $11 million in deals with 4 years left on them.
