Kitchener, Ontario card show?

Hey guys. I am from Kitchener and I am just throwing the idea out there. Is anyone from around the area interested in a hockey/sports card show? Would you like to set up a table and sell or would you be interested in just dropping in a browsing around. You figure that $2 admission would be fine for anyone under a certain age?

Their is a card show in Kitchener at Bingeman's but it is only done approx every six months. Cambridge has one once every four-five weeks as well. I am just seeing if I can find enough interest to look into the idea of setting up a monthly card show up.

Plus if you are from the K-W area, do you have any connections for getting a banquet hall cheaper? Or can you think of a good place to have a card show.

I've got no connections for a hall....... and don't have enough stuff of my own to justify setting up a table. Depending on the costs though, could be convinced to share a table with a couple of others?

$2 admission though, would be fine. Obviously it depends on when it is (the Hespler one is no more than a 4 minute drive from my house, but I go to MAYBE half of them) but I would certainly plan on attending.

Thank you. I am figuring that I would plan on starting it for next fall.

I know that is a long time away but I would have to find a hall and enough people willing to set up tables. I know that it would not take me about seven to eight months to get everything in order but I do not want to start in the summer when their would be a massive lack of interest.

I was thinking $2 admission fee as well.

On a side note if anyone has ever set up a table at a card show, how much does it usually cost? I am not in this to make a lot of money, just enough to pay for the hall and maybe a little extra in my pocket for doing the work. Not to get rich off of it.

Hespeler show is $28 per table plus HST. woodstock show is $40 per if paid in advance or $45 the day of. there are discounts if you get more tables in Woodstock, but I can't remember.

from talking with Ian, the guy who runs the Woodstock, Kitchener, Brantford, etc shows, Kitchener requires a license to set up a show like this. It is expensive. Make sure you check all the legalities before you start. You need insurance as well! Just trying to help, not trying to deter you from doing it! I'm in Kitchener, PM me is you need any help. thanks

Thank you very much. I know that you are not trying to deter me at all. I will be honest and I never even thought of insurance. I was thinking a table would be in the $25-30 range so that could be a bit cheaper than Woodstock at least.

I just figured that Kitchener-Waterloo has a much higher population that Cambridge does and what Woodstock does. I just figure that it may be a market that has some potential.

$25-$30 wouldn't be prohibative at all, IMO. It wouldn't be the cost that would keep me from getting a table.... it's the fact that I don't have enough of an inventory of "moveable" cards to justify it.

It's a good idea though. If you can get something going for the fall - be sure to let me know!

I think the reason it hasnt be done in KW is the fact that the City charge so much for the license. But I may be wrong.

How would a place like RIM park be? I would have to call them and get details but their are a lot of people in that area. Plus they run kids hockey tournaments a whole lot there so the card show could draw from that as well. Plus we all know that the kids are the future of the hobby so if they get interested at a young age.
