My Coyotes got hosed... I don't know what's gotten into Maloney now. 2 bad deals this year. If anything he should have kept Wolski then gotten Klesla.

Not sure I get this reasoning. It's clear the only way the Coyotes are going to win a playoff series this season is to out-defense the opposition. Upshall is a maddeningly inconsistent player, and Klesla is a fantastic shot blocker with the potential for some offensive upside. Definitely an upgrade over Lepisto on the back end.
You're probably right on Wolski, though. That one was a bit of a noodle-scratcher.

I have a yearly fantasy that Ken Holland trades Brad Stuart for a styrofoam container of Earth Worms and wins big in the trade. Sadly it won't happen and if the Red Wings get as far as another SC Final, count on Stuart to be OOP and lose another one for the Red Wings.
This team is going nowhere with that Pylon.

well hope they don't realistically think that getting someone like Penner was the one thing that elevated them to Cup contention level

I have to agree. There was no reason to go big on this one and make a deal involving the likes of Raymond or Bieksa. I think Lapierre will fit in and also think Higgins is an underrated player.
Now to push for the cup!

I'm indifferent about the Penner deal. I like the first round pick, because it gives the Oilers some options to move up in the draft(please please please let Huberdeau a possibility on a trade up).
I'm not sold on Teubert though. He has the potential to be a good, tough stay at home defenceman, but he's not nearly as far ahead in his development as Voynov or Hickey are. Hopefully he benefits more playing in Oklahoma than Manchester with more ice time. He was stuck behind the 2 dmen mentioned above, and Jake Muzzin, but on OKC he will be higher on the depth charts, especially with Shawn Belle gone.
Despite Penner saying all the right things the last couple of months, he didn't want to stay. He has been wanting to be in California for some time now, and I don't think he even wanted to leave Anaheim. He can be a dominant player when engaged in the game, but it wasn't often enough here in Edmonton.
Only time will tell how this deal works out...

.................................................. .............
Sometimes teams get a player and he just doesn't mesh right with certain coaches. Higgins just needs to meet the right coach.
Also......It's a good thing that Wayne Gretzky or Sid Crosby didn't play for Ron Wilson, they have half the points they now have.
Some NHL coaches suck slough water but the fraternity and the fans are simply too blind to it.

Richards wants to be a Leaf. Only wanted to go to the Rangers at the deadline to be in the playoffs
