Rockets Inch Closer to WHL B.C. Division Title
http://www.castanet.net/news/Sports/...division-title
Evan Bloodoff scored twice as the Kelowna Rockets won their fourth in a row on the road, dumping the Kamloops Blazers 6-2 Wednesday night.
Rookie 16-year-old forward Tyrell Goulbourne scored his first Western Hockey League goal while tangling with Blazers tough guy Ryan Hanes on two separate occasions.
For Hanes, 18, it was his 21st and 22nd fights of the season.
Geordie Wudrick, Cody Chikie and Mitchell Callahan also scored for the Rockets. Zak Stebner and Colton Sissons each chipped in with a pair of assists.
After a scoreless first period, the Rockets jumped on the Blazers early in the second. Wudrick scored his 37th on a power play before Goulbourne made it 2-0 just past the six minute mark.
Twice, the Blazers cut the deficit to a single goal but on both occasions, the Rockets restored the two goal lead less than 30 second later.
Bloodoff with his second and Callahan on another power-play wrapped up the scoring in the third period.
Adam Brown equalled his career high registering his 31st win of the season.
Wednesday's win moves the Rockets four points up on the Giants in the battle for top spot in the B.C. Division.
Both teams have just nine games left in the regular season.
The Rockets kick off a brief three game homestand Friday when the Chilliwack Bruins come to town. Kelowna host Lethbridge Saturday.
The Giants also play at home this weekend, hosting U.S. Division leading Portland Saturday and Tri-City Sunday.
The Rockets and Giants face each other in a home and home series to conclude the regular season
Hopefully the Rockets can lock up the division crown before the final home-and-home with the Giants. It'll be some high drama, though, if it does go down to the wire.

They've been sparring with Vancouver for first for awhile now, but it's starting to look like they'll take it. The 3-for-4 trip to the Central division really did them well, but the turning point seems to have been the 3-for-3 trip to the US a couple weeks ago. No one saw that coming.
It's going to be an interesting finish, for sure, but I have a feeling it's going to be an American team come out of the West.
