I Decided what to do with my SP Authentic Future Watch Rookie Sets

For a while, I've been thinking about my collection and last weekend, I decided to sell my SP Authentic Future Watch Rookie PC.

I opened my first box of SP Authentic hockey two years ago. I was immediately drawn to the product by the design and the potential for pulling a high end (think octo) on card autograph. However, the true highlight of the SP Authentic set is the Future Watch Rookies, featuring the top rookies from that years NHL class.

Before the Cup came out, I think SP Authentic future watch auto rookies were the only true rookies available, serial numbered with on card autos. Some collectors (including myself) covet these cards more than the Cup counterparts (who wants a sill piece of event used jersey patch anyways?) The rookies hold there value very well over the years and are generally must haves for any player or team collector.

For the past two years, I've tried to put these sets together, autos and non auto'd rookie sets. I was successful in making a complete 08-09 Set and the 09-10 set. (sorry, already sold these). I made a very good dent into the 05-06 set as well as 90% of the 06-07 set. The rest of the sets are in their infancies. Most of the cards iI pulled, a lot of the cards were purchased and a few were acquired by trades on here. Either way, I bought a lot of Sp Authentic product.

However, I recently got engaged and now its time to get some of that money back. I wanted to sell them as a lot, but I'll probably make more selling them on ebay. I listed a few as BINS on ebay, but decided I wanted money faster so I've decided to list them one by one on ebay at .99 cent starting auctions. (I have to buy another 500 count of bubble mailers LOL!)

I've already sold the entire 08/09 and 09/10 sets so you wont find a Stamkos or Tavares, but you might see a few others on there. Anyways, the purpose of this message was not only to advertise my auctions, but also to express my feelings for my first hobby love, Sp Authentic Future Watch rookies.

one of my favorite looking insert sets of all time

I think for the most part the designs of the auto'd Future Watch cards have been better than those of the also highly desired YGs and Cup rookie templates

sorry to hear you had to sell off your collection .... as great as cards can be sometimes other things are more important

My least favorite design is by far 07/08 (and cards had gold edges which made them sensitive to chipping). Favorite design is probably 03-04 but also think 09-10 looked nice.

Its not like my fiancee forced me to sell or anything; I just kind of realized I wouldnt be able to complete the sets for some time due to those other committments and the cards take up space. For the most part, I think the maximum value on these cards has been reached and its time to go. I'll try to stagger the more in demand ones but those will probably go up on ebat first.

As for next year, I'll probably open 10-11 but wont be putting together the fw set.

gotta say 09-10 was my favorite design
not a fan of 05-06 mainly due to the fact so many are portrait pics

as nice as many of the FW cards look, I only own two (P. Stastny, Duchene)
I just wouldn't care enough to own the huge number of scrubs included in the set

I collected the 08-09 set and was only missing the Bailey when I decided to sell. I wanted to put the set together then sell complete. I saw one go on EBAY for much less then I spent on obtaining the set as singles. So I listed the cards individually and made my money back plus a little extra!
