Auto's are better if they are directly on the card itself. That way we know that the card was actually in the players hands. A card company can send a thousand stickers to a player to have them signed, then they can use those stickers for every product they make. That's my take.
I am looking for an Inscribed Black Border Gold Tatum Bell RC #/199, If you have any info on the whereabouts of one of these cards PM me.

I really prefer the on auto cards as well.... Some stickers look just to ugly((not to big of fan of the silver stickers as well.. They just stick out to much..... The only good stickers in all honestly are the ones that hide within the card.

I like em on the cards too. Like was said, you know the player had the card in their possession. Really, there's no comparison, in my opinion.
And, you know, you're probably right. One day those stickers are going to lose their adhesiveness and come off.

Autos directly on the card are definitely better.

I'm also surprised this hasn't been discussed before. My local card shop owner says this is the hot topic of discussion at his shop (i.e. do you still buy cards w/ stickers on them).
Of course, I'm like everyone else & like autographs directly on the cards too. I especially hate it when the manufacturers put the sticker on crooked; it makes it look so cheesy!
I will still collect cards with stickers on them though. They do have their good points:
- Autograph always shows up nice. For example, some autographs on cards don't show up well if it's black ink on a dark background.
- Guaranteed authentic with the holograms in the sticker (Sage,UD,Topps).
- Less redemptions (I think). Isn't this why the card companies started this in the first place? ie. Send a sheet of stickers to the player, rather than wait for the card to be printed, etc.

It doesn't matter to me. An auto is an auto. There are some bad looking sticker autos as well as bad looking on card autos out there. I guess it all comes down to preference. I bet though, that just cause it is an ugly looking sticker auto that most people wouldn't trade or sell it at a cheaper price beacuse of that.

Either way works for me.
How about those Sage stickers? You can barely see the autograph on them! At least in pictures anyways, I have no Sage.
