Upper Deck Evolution Commercials
Upper Deck has reinvented the trading card category repeatedly over the years with new innovations. Here’s a small list of some of the more well known innovations from Upper Deck:
1989 – Anti-Counterfeit Hologram, Premium Paper Stock, Foil Wrappers
Upper Deck introduces the first-ever anti-counterfeit hologram on trading cards, revolutionizing the industry. It also uses premium paper stock, thus raising the bar for photographers. Gone were the days of wax wrappers that could easily be searched as well, Upper Deck was the first company to utilize foil wrappers.
1990 – Autographed Inserts
Upper Deck is the first trading card company to put autographed insert cards into its product with the “Baseball Heroes” collection featuring Nolan Ryan and Reggie Jackson.
1996 – Game Jersey Cards
With its 1996 Upper Deck Football set, the company debuts game-used jersey swatches embedded on card fronts from superstars including Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Barry Sanders.
1998 – Piece of History Bat Cards
The controversial, yet hugely popular Babe Ruth "Piece of History" bat cards are unveiled; rare collectibles that feature pieces of a game-used bat swung by the Sultan of Swat.
1999 – PowerDeck
The world's first digital trading card is introduced with actual video footage of the featured player, along with music, photos, player profiles and statistics.
2008 – Haircut-Signature Cards
Insert cards feature actual strands of hair as well as cut signatures from deceased notables including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
2009 – Entomology Cards.
Inside its Goodwin Champs set, Upper Deck debuts unique, regular and oversized cards containing actual insects/bugs.
2009 – SPx Shadowbox Card
Using new technology, Upper Deck created a new trading card that had layers of imagery embedded in it creating a shadowbox effect.
On April 12, 2011 Upper Deck will revolutionize the trading cards industry again. There is an insert set in 2011 Upper Deck Football called EVOLUTION, but they are not releasing any details about what that product is.
In order to be entered into the contest you must answer these simple questions; What do you think the insert set EVOLUTION will be and what has been the best idea Upper Deck has had since they entered the hobby in 1989?
The winner will receive a 2008 SP Authentic RC Auto Gold #'ed /25 of Gosder Cherilus (Football), a 2008 SP Authentic Auto/Jersey #'ed/799 of Felipe Paulino (Baseball), and a 2009 Topps National Chicle RC of Donald Brown.
The contest will run from now until 11:59 P.M. April 4th. SCF Staff will be allowed to participate. One entry per person please. I will post everyone's name into a random on random.org to determine the winner and will post the random video under my Youtube account, dude0100. I will random it 5 times and the person whos' name is on top wins the cards! Good luck and remember to purchase 2011 Upper Deck Football on April 12th!

Autoed and Game used cards were bound to happen so I think the Entomology cards were the most innovative especially if you have ever seen the Giant Leaf Bug variations.
Since Dinosaur bones has already been done in the card industry I'll go with a Going green insert set made from 100% recycled items
