Rockets' Adam Brown Named CHL Goalie of the Week

    http://kelownarockets.com/article/br...ie-of-the-week

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Adam Brown of the Kelowna Rockets is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 13. Brown posted a 3-0-0-0 record including one shutout with a goals-against-average of 0.65 and save percentage of .979.
Brown recorded his third shutout of the season on Saturday in a 1-0 shootout win over the Kamloops Blazers. He stopped all 29 shots in regulation time and another four in overtime before prevailing in the shootout to claim first star of the game honours. He was also named second star of Friday’s contest against the Blazers where he made 33 saves as part of a 5-1 win. Brown began his week on Wednesday with a 27-save performance as first star of a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Americans.
Brown, a 19-year-old from Yorba Linda, California, is playing in his third WHL season with the Rockets. In 58 games played this season, Brown ranks fifth in the WHL with a goals-against-average of 2.59 and is tied for fourth in save percentage with a mark of .916.
Brown's win on Saturday night also set a new career mark for the Rockets franchise as the 19-year-old recorded his 84th career win, surpassing Kelly Guard as the franchise leader for regular season wins.
Jacob Gervais-Chouinard of the Val d’Or Foreurs was also considered after winning two games including one shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.96 and a save percentage of .961. Mark Visentin of the Niagara IceDogs won three games and posted a goals-against-average of 2.50 and save percentage of .932.

He's arguably one of the best goalies in the WHL (only real competition is the guy in Red Deer, can't remember his name) and easily the best goalie the Rockets have ever had. Many will point to Guard's stats but seriously, with guys like Shea Weber, Josh Gorges, Duncan Kieth et al, I could have set those numbers.
Brown is a phenom and if he doesn't end up getting a shot at the bigs, it's a shame.

It really is awesome seeing how they've risen as the year has gone on - didn't they have a pretty rough start? I don't remember the exact numbers but it wasn't looking good for a while there. Good for Brown to help carry the team - is another deep playoffs run on the horizon? Here's hoping, I need a good excuse to stay up late and listen to the games!

They started something like 2-10 or 3-10 and everyone wrote the season off. A deep playoff run is a definite possibility. They've wrapped the BC division and have a shot at overtaking Tri-Cities for 3rd in the West before playoffs start. They are one of those teams that has the ability to beat any other team on any given night. They own their own fate, really.

Scratch that. 5-0 loss at home to lowly Seattle.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the two of us could beat the T-Birds. They're pretty terrible this year.
