How crazy would it be....
(This is what happens when it's 4 AM and I'm not tired......)
if James Buescher won the Truck title after missing a race?
I can't imagine there's been an instance where a driver in any series won a title when they didn't run every race (in the modern era at least), but Buescher is certainly capable. He's 11th in points now, even though he missed Phoenix.
That alone is enough reason for me to want to see him win it all.

I did a little quick research (and I could've missed something), but it looks like Jeff Green was the closest. In 1999 he missed a race and still finished 2nd in the Busch points behind Dale Jr (almost 300 points back though, so that extra race wouldn't have mattered anyways).

The new points system makes it possible.

could happen-heck the old system made it possible-if Kyle ran even most of the full season last year and missed 1 or 2 races and Kez had 1 or 2 more problems he could have done it easily-but with the new system it is even more possible-especially in trucks-since the field is shorter-so basically DNS is a 37th place finish-which can be made up. However I think he wont do it-too many decent trucks in front of him-Bodine, Grandpa, Crafton, Slaughter, and the underdog the young kid Cole Whitt

I think it might happen-Dillon is faster but has no consistency. I dont see anyone else who can run consistently top 10-I think itd be cool to have some of the new guard win these lower championships this year finally-and its looking like him and stenhouse in NNS have a great shot
