I think if they are going to move the team why not move it to Vegas? The Maloofs who own the Kings are already a big presence in Vegas and we have never had a professional team. A few years ago when they had the All Star Game in Vegas it was huge. I think a pro basketball team in Vegas would work out pretty good. I don't think 3 teams in the LA area are necessary. If not Vegas maybe move it down to San Diego.

Vegas can't support a team for the obvious reasons but also because they do not have an NBA ready arena

Anaheim has the Honda Center and even though it seems like 3 teams in LA, Orange County has a different fan base altogether... as Angel fans can attest

I gre up in Sacramento and it is sad but the city has no money, neither do the Maloof as the Palms and the Kings are bleeding money... they tried to get an arena deal done but couldn't... sad because Arco was the place to be for years... however it is a crappy, outdated arena and if you can believe it, the oldest arena in the NBA. Combine a crappy team for the last 5-6 years, owners needing money, a city with no money and junk arena with waning interest..

I don't know if I can support the Royals even though I will now live 20 minutes away...

The NBA would NEVER approve a team in VEGAS. They are afraid of the gambling perceptions they take enough heat for very obvious reasons. IE The Lakers getting 33 foul shots in the fourth quarter of game seven but i digress.
Being in LA the market for a team in Anaheim is huge. Its not really close to the Staples Center and OC is where the money is. LA is really in huge downtrend especially with municipalities like LA and all big cities GOING BROKE.
Its a very intelligent move by the Maloof boys to bring this team here. I would much rather hang in the OC then in LA which is really a total slum for the most part.
Whatever they advertise about LA being reborn or what not is complete garbage. That area around Staples is pure trash. Skid Row, bums, drug dealers. Staples Center is pretty much a cover for the drug dealers driving around in 100k SUVs.

You are right about the arena thing. I was actually just talking to another friend about the same thing. Where would we put the arena and who would pay for it when the city is already doing pretty bad financially. Other than that I don't see why Vegas can't support a team. I think both the casinos and the team itself would both benefit.

Anaheim would probably work out fine for them but it just doesn't seem right to have 3 teams within such a short distance from each other when there are other cities who I'm sure deserve and would love to have a team.

It would be pretty sad to see them leave Sacramento. I remember at one point they had a huge streak of home game sell-outs. Even when the team wasn't doing very well it seemed like the community still continued to support them. I'm not sure if that's the case anymore.

I'm most likely moving to San Diego next year so having a team in Anaheim would be nice, although I'd rather see them end up in San Diego. Not sure if San Diego would have the adequate facilities to support an NBA team though so it looks like Anaheim is the most logical spot right now.

You are probably right about the NBA never approving a team in Vegas and for those reasons exactly. I think it would work out good but the NBA wouldn't want to tarnish their image so it will probably never happen. The thing is that there is already a perception that games are being fixed due to gambling and there isn't even a team in Vegas right now. It's not like moving a team to Vegas is going to actually change anything. But you are right, perception is more important than what is actually going on when it comes to pro sports.
