Shill Bidding?
A couple auctions I'm bidding on, and others, I think the seller is shill biding. I'm not going to say why I think so because I want to know if you see the same thing I see going on. Here one auction I'm bidding on. Check it out and PLMK. Sorry if off-topic, but is about sports cards. Just thought I would get a quicker reply here.

No problem. Why do you think so? And does anyone else think so?

He is shill bidding without a doubt.
1. Every one of his bids is after others (he is never the initial bid)
2. He continues to rebid just enough to test the upper limits of the previous bids
3. He just signed up yesterday
4. He has bid on 14 items in one day
5. EVERY bid he has placed is from that one seller
THere is no doubt he is shill bidding. I would stay away for that reason alone no matter how bad I wanted the card.

Ebay will take it seriously and if they find enough evidence they will NARU the users.

But what conviced me the most was the feedback for the seller. The seller has 22 feedback from detroitfan0405, and guess what the shill bidders id is, back2back0405. The 0405 is in both ids and I don't think its a coincidence. I know its not right and I don't do it often. But I retracted all of my bids and I did report him, thank you. But I will pay for one auction I won of his. And should I try to contact the other bidders and let them know whats going on?

Kind of on topic and I apologize since this is not compeltely about sports cards but just the shill bidding process.
I have found it hard to believe lately that ebay does take the shill bidding seriously. Our ebay account is a family account and my grandma has sold some jewelry there... One day she found this one lady who has bids from a buyer on A LOT of items and the feedback rating was PRIVATE... That raises a major red flag right there.. The feedback uniques were about 265 and the overall total was well over 2k... There is red flag #2.
We found her exact bidding pattern on how she bids when she bids and on what items she bids on. Also found out there was more then one name. We reported this person 3 times with a 2 page description of how this is shill bidding and they said it was not enough evidance.
Great tool to check shill bidding quickly
If you ever suspect shill bidding use the link above and just enter in the item number. It will look at all bidders of the auction and then display links of any other items that are currently listed that same bidder will have a bid on. I used this tool in the case of what my grandma found on her jewelry and the data amounts on the mysterious buyer were so big that it couldnt parse the data onto the website.

When did you win the auction? If you reported him, Ebay may kick him off before he sends and then you have no recourse. If you won the auction yesterday, I may wait a day or two before paying to see what happens since he may not longer be a member and then take your money and run as he obviously (by this topic) is not the most ethical person.
...my $0.02

Jon-
I also noticed the FB with detroitfan0405, although I did not note the same 4 numbers....good eye! Obviously this tool is using the old shill bidding ID to sell and had to make a new one to do the shilling.
Jay-
I never thought they did either until I (I am sure with the help/reports from others) got a big seller NARU'd for shill bidding. Thing that killed me was they were my favorite seller until I noticed an oddity with a bidder on a card I was bidding on from that seller. I did some investigating and found some major shilling going on. I was so mad because I know I was shilled by this seller on at least 10 auctions I bid on from him. Anyways, I reported it and they were NARU'd within 2 weeks.
Anyways, thanks for that link Jay....that will come in handy! Those 2 red flags you mentioned above are definate red flags!!! The seller in my case that was NARU'd was very slick about his shilling, I would imagine that's why his FB rating was an almost perfect 99.9% with over 4,000 ++++ transactions! :\
Peace~
