Anybody else a Target shopper?
So, I recently pulled all my cardboard out of the closet with the intention of selling it. I "collected" cards as a kid in the early to mid 90s (apparently the worst time to have been a collector), and was hoping to make a few bucks.
After sorting through cards, though, I was bitten by the bug again... and after reading about some of the current market trends (memorabilia cards and autos... where were those when I was a kid?), I was really interested.
I don't have a lot of cash to devote to the hobby, so I decided to hit up the local Target to see what was out there. I discovered something else that wasn't out there when I was a kid... bundled loose packs of 1-4 year old cards of different brands all packaged together for CHEAP. So, for the last few weeks, I've been picking up one or two of these 10-packs at $9.99 each with some pretty good results as far as Beckett is concerned... usually at least quadrupling in book value what I paid.
Last night, though, I had the best luck I've EVER had with pulls from retail packs.
I pulled (in this order):
2009 Topps Chrome "X-Fractor" Gordon Beckham
2009 SP Authentic "Signatures" Denard Span (Auto)
2009 Bowman "Prospects Autographs" Gordon Beckham
Not bad for less than $10 in discount packs... Has anybody else had any luck with these things?
