Can someone explain Victory to me?

I have never bought a pack of victory hockey and I generally stay away fom all the low end cards and products. However, after opening a box of UD S2 yesterday, I now have some of these cards but there are a few variations I found but, not really sure what they are.

My questions are about the gold and black parallels.

How rare are they, and what are the print runs for each?

    Thanks guys

The insert ratios for Victory parallels are listed on the UD2 packs. In the regular set the Gold are 1:36 (1 in each box) with the Black being a tougher hit. Rookies are intended to be more difficult. Print runs are unannounced.

So in a Victory box the golds are 1:36, I assume much more rare in a one per pack type thing in UD 2. The black cards are maybe 1 per case and less so in UD S2 packs?

I ask because I pulled these and really have no idea what to do with them...

Bobrovski gold rc and a Paajarvi black rc.

In a box of UD Series 2, you'll get 1 gold RC and 1 gold regular card (i.e. not a rookie).

I think the Blacks fall (roughly) one per case.

There are no announced print runs, but you can make an educated guess on it:

Each box should contain 1 Exclusives Parallel (either #ed /100 or #ed /10)
250 cards in the set, means there are 25,000 + 2,500 Exclusives total (27,500)

I would then guess that this means there are 27,500 total boxes - devided by 12 (boxes per case) means there are (roughly) 2292 cases produced. I'll just round up and use 2300.

With Gold Rookies falling once per box, and 50 total being in the set, that means there should be about 550 copies of them.

With the blacks falling once per case, devide the 2300 by 50, and you get (roughly) 46 copies of each.

Yes, there was a little bit of rounding going on there, and this doesn't include any retail packs (though I don't know for sure what's availble in them).

My bet - 50 copies of each Victory Black.

    It's a realy nice card!

Since 05-06 UD has been seeding 'update' cards to the Victory set in their Upper Deck series 2 boxes.

In 05-06 the golds were #/100 and the blacks were #/5

In 06-07 and onward though, the cards weren't numbered. Everyone assumed that they were still /100 and /5, but no one could prove it. Plus, more copies seemed to be showing up online and elsewhere.

The way to make a good guess is what 30ranfordfan did above.

    Go find some casebreaks:
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/showt...+series+2+case
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/showt...+series+2+case

    And see what was pulled.

In a case you get about:
    2 blacks - 100 in set
    2 HG /10 - 250 in set
    24 Golds - 100 in set
    12 /100 - 250 in set

    Then its just comparing.
    # cards in set * print run / # cards per case = # cards in set * print run / # cards per case

    HG vs Victory Black
    250 * 10 / 2 = 100 * ???? / 2
    ???? = 25

    Exclusives vs Victory Black
    250 * 100 / 12 = 100 * ???? / 2
    ???? = 41

    Victory Black print run ~25-50

    HG vs Victory Gold
    250 * 10 / 2 = 100 * ???? / 24
    ???? = 300

    Exclusives vs Victory Gold
    250 * 100 / 12 = 100 * ???? / 24
    ???? = 500

    Victory Gold print run ~300-500

Plus, you have Victory update golds and blacks in retail, so I would double those guesses.

    Victory Black print run ~50-100
    Victory Gold print run ~600-1000

    Hope this helps.

    cheers,
    reoddai
