    PS3 or Xbox360

So it has been roughly over 10+ years since Ive actually played on any game system but this year I want to get back into it but have been out of the game so much, I'm just not sure what kind of system to pick up.

If it helps the interest game wise are shooter, racing, and sports games. Not so much of it playing music or DVDs, just want it for games mostly in those areas. Would like ppls feedback and experiences of could help me choose as I myself and still looking, thanks alot.

Personally I am PS3 guy. If you don't own a Blu-ray player you will then. Both will play your Netflix.

I'm a PS3 guy as well. The blu-ray combo was a big deal for me as I didn't have one.

I have both. Here is my +/- for each.

    PS3:
    +Blu-Ray
    +Stable system hardware
    +Clearer HD (IMO)
    +Better exclusive shooters
    +Free online gameplay
    -Online "XMB" setup

    XBOX:
    +XBOX Live set up
+Larger community (although more little kids)
    +Less expensive system
    -XBOX Live costs money
    -% of system hardware failures

I like my PS3 more, but I have more friends on my XBOX. I switch systems depending on the game. Right now playing COD on XBOX but playing NBA 2K11 and SOCOM Beta on PS3.

I recently decided to purchase an XBOX 360 over a PS3 a couple of months ago. I already have a blu-ray player so thats what made me choose the XBOX. Keep in mind that there are exclusive games for each console.

I haven't played games that much over the past few years either but would like to get back into them. I still have my PS2 so I'm thinking about trying the XBOX 360 this time around because the xbox can play some of the old games, it has custom soundtracks and I can actually use it as a reciever for att uverse.

I can add to spoodini's post if you would like. He has a lot of great points.

My questions for you would be, importance of online gameplay and game selection of your favorite genre/s (as listed in the OP)

Xbox360 all the way. Xbox Live cost about $60 a year so it isn't that bad of a price. $5 a month for all of the Live playing that you can stand, how bad is that? Rather than buy Live right away I did the 30 day trial and right at the end they offered me a year for $49 so it was even cheaper.

The best shooter game for on-line play is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Right now The PS3 on-line play is loaded with cheaters using hacks. That alone keeps me away from the PS console. The last thing I want to do is pay a bunch of money for a game and on-line play so that some loser can use cheats to always win.

Also a lot of the Xbox games are compatible with the Xbox360 console making it pretty cheap to load up on games since most of the older Xbox games can be bought for $3 or $4.

you think MW2 is better online than Black Ops? I like Black Ops more.
