Tim Horton card auctions
Hi guys,
I've been watching Tim Horton sales on ebay and they seem to be very high right now. Last year I sold a Vintage Lumber (plain stick with a dot) /9 on auction for $55, actually lost money on it. I've got another in my bucket thats the same /9 but nicer, PC NFT. Just curious now what its really worth?
2 cards sold recently
04-05 ITG Stick/Jersey Horton /60.....just over $100
and this one I said wow $200, thats awesome! Whats going on here?
05-06 ITG Ultimate Blades of Steel /25

If someone can shed some light here for Horton values, lmk. Thanks

I find Tim Horton to be a bit of a mystery myself especially his auto's. He was a good player no doubt but there were certainly much better. I can't figure out why people think his auto's should be worth sooooo much other then his coffee shop. I've heard "he didn't sign very often" but I'm thinking when you own your own business you end up signing lots of stuff and I'm willing to be that somebody like Dr. Price is holding onto a thousand auto's of his from signed cheques or whatever. I like Horton but I wouldn't go after his stuff at those prices when there's better stuff out there but that's just my opinion.
Collecting:Leafs Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Conacher, Horner, Broda, Bower, Clark, Gilmour and others.

Anytime a player dies young, it's going to put a premium on their autographs (modern day not so much..... becuase they've all signed so much stuff).
Horton was a very good defenceman, a HOFer, but you're probably right - not an 'all time great'. Obviously the coffee business will ensure he always remains a big name.
Becuase any certified autos of his will always be limited to Cuts, or Lumbergraphs, or (similar) ideas.... they're always going to be in short supply, and will always get pretty good prices.

I agree he's not one of the ATG but hes considered an icon in Canada, especially to Leafs fans. The coffee helps for sure. I've just really surprised how much his skate and stick pieces sold for lately, maybe it is the promotion of roll up the rim. Might be worthwhile to note if you are selling his cards.

Horton stuff always maintains a certain level of demand, as many others have said. He may not be considered an ATG, but he is definitely up there as far as pre-Orr defensemen go (I know he played when Orr was younger, too). Doesn't ever hurt the popularity to have played with the Leafs, either.
That said, I'd be careful to base any 'trends' off older ITG Ultimate sales. There are quite a few collectors who are collecting many of those sets years post-release. The checklists for some of the older sets are quite impressive in terms of vintage HOFers. It would not be beyond belief to see a couple of set collectors collide with a couple Leafs collectors and send those prices right up the scale.
