Thats all folks!
Well, went to the video store to grab more packs for the kid this morning, whatever they had left for score and victory is what i bought and was told there won't be anymore as their distributor won't be continuing to carry hockey cards anymore.
Nice kick in the teeth, now i'm left with having to drive 2 1/2 hours one way to buy anything for him, good thing i stocked up on supplies!

Did they say why the distributor wasn't selling them anymore?
Generally, the suppliers for small stores like that in out of the way locations are non-Brick and mortar resellers. They buy from bigger wholsalers and re-sale to the local places in small lots. Its not worth it for a store to buy 50 packs from a resaler, so these middle men help get cards into many stores that wouldn't otherwise have them. I can' imagine that they make much profit on it though.
With UD & Panini eliminating sales of new product to non B&M stores for the first 90 days and 1 week respectively, its putting a lot of these kind of people out of business.
My guess is that's why you can't buy cards there anymore, but it could also be another wholly different reason. You might get lucky and another indepedant distributor will step in to fill those shoes. Especially if you, the customer, make your purchasing desires known.

I'm not exactly sure what the reasoning is but i am going to push the enquiry a little further as i have supported this business for years and now that i'm getting my 9 year old into the hobby.
The drug store here a few years back used to carry hockey cards and about 4 years ago they quit selling them also because it just wasn't worth carrying product they couldn't sell, seems like alot of kids in this town would rather sit on their ™™™ playing video games than spend money on cards or even go out and play street hockey for that matter

Speaking of videogames I remember about 12 years ago I went to a toy store where I lived at back them looking for a playstation game. The manager of the store told me they made a business decision to stop supporting the playstion and only sell sega dreamcast games. About a year or so afterwards sega stopped supporting the dreamcast and that toystore was out of business.

Just watch.....
The next thing that happens is Upper Deck supplying Retail Chains with Hobby Boxes. It's not that far away.
Target, Walmart, K-mart and the like will be the prime movers of cards. Watch for it, as it will happen eventually.
