Congrats on the Brees. I live in San Diego, his former team. He was not a fan favorite. He was actually run out of town. I'm sure some of you remember this, but his play was rather subpar at one time, I don't think it was all him, but he was benched for Doug Flutie many times. I was at the Chargers/Vikings game where Doug Flutie's outstanding play beat out Culpepper & Randy Moss (Moss had a great game stats wise).
When they discarded Brees after his injury no-one, fans of the Chargers, local sports talk radio, NFL pundits, Jim Rome, & countless others thought he'd ever amount to anything.
His story and incredible turn around in his play, rise to fame, ultimately capped off by a Superbowl win, is something of legendary caliber. In the football collectibility angle, what were bargain bin .99cent auto'd rc's became worth their weight in gold. I have auto's of Stan "The Man" Humphries, Dan Fouts, Philip Rivers, but no Brees. It's sad I didn't superbuy any of his cards from a collectibility perspective, his cards were literally 2-3 for $1, for rookies...
