    Famous Hakeem vs Robinson shot

I was watching top plays in basketball on YouTube and one of the "top 10 moves" of all time was the move Hakeem put on David Robinson. It was a very, very good move, but it was also a very fundamental move. The same move I learned in high school, so why would it be one of the best moves of all time?

I watched what the video you were talking about. That move Hakeem used is known as the "Dream Shake". It's a combo of head fake, pump fakes, spin moves, and footwork that was extremely hard to defend because it's done so smoothly and quickly. It was not just a one time move that he did but much like Jordan's layups, Hardaway's Cross Overs, and Kareem's sky hooks, something Hakeem could do consistently.

I think we all learn the pump fakes and head fakes and spin moves when we learn to play basketball, but no one does it quite like Hakeem, that's why we hear about people like Kobe and Dwight Howard trying to learn from Hakeem during the summer.

It is, and Kevin McHale used many similar moves in his prime. It's no coincidence that Hakeem didn't start using "The Dream Shake" until after the 1986 NBA Finals.
