    NBA draft talk

here is the thread to say who you think your team should take who you think will go where and everything else

    here are my predictions...

with the first selection in the 2005 NBA draft the Milwaukee Bucks SHOULD select Andrew Bogut from the University of Utah... he is the biggest risk/reward player in the draft. He gives a player who can play big on a team which best big man is dan gadzurich who averages only 22 minutes a game. Bogut can bring a big man who can play pretty good offense and a presence in the middle gadzurich and calvin booth just dont provide

with the second pick the hawks really need a steady ballhandler... right now they have one guy you could trust with the ball and that being 6'0" Tyronn Lue. I would like to see them pick deron williams or chris paul.

at number 3 the trailblazers need something the draft cannot offer... a veteran who can lead the team and bring them together... with a team including shareef abdur rahim (who is a free agent), zach randolph, and damon stoudmire (another free agent) what they need is discipline. They are also without a head coach at this time so the process of rebuilding will be starting soon. Depends on which way they want to head... start all over or try to salvage what they have. If they want to try and start over maybe the best pick would be someone like channing frye or hakim warrick... i dont see shareef or stoudamire hanging around on a team that is in shambles

Number 4 seems like a no brainer to me. The New Orleans Hornets have to select a big guy... Outside of Jamaal Magloire, the hornets only have one other guy who could attempt to play the center position in 36 year old PJ Brown. Brown is very undersized at the center position (240 pounds) and if magloire goes down again this season the hornets are once again in trouble. I would like to see them select either Sean May or Andrew Bynum with their selection. Either would make a good fit in their system but bynum at 7 foot may be the best

more draft opinions will be coming in the next couple days... what do you think?

Bogut has locked up #1 after a nice butt-kissing tour in Milwaukee. There are all kinds of trade rumors involving trading the #3 and #4 pick. Check out this site, if you haven't already:
    hoopsworld.com

Mitch - I know you're a pacer guy - right? There's a rumor (guaranteed on hoopsworld as "done") about Lakers & Pacers trading draft picks, and Jonathan Bender for expiring contracts. What's your take on Bender : stiff or the next Jermaine O'neal?

I hope the Knicks sign Zydranus Ilgauskus and draft another PG. This way Marbury could move over to his more natural position which would be the SG. Maybe Deron Williams will fall to #8.

Lakers - Bender will be a pretty good player under phil jackson. He has a lot of potential but it is raw. A TON of athleticism and if he could develope a 15 footer he would be damn good.... as far as that trade rumor.. havent heard anything but i think the pacers should hold onto him personally

AKA50 - i doubt he will be around that long but possibly.. i like the chances of warrick ending up at Utah or Toronto

Fairchild - coppenwrath is a great player but pretty much untested... look at his college schedule... I think his team played like.. 3 ranked teams and beat 1 of them... i would say based on that he will fall a little lower than his value... Celtics possibly but the Wizards traded their 1st round pick and i dont see him being around for the 49th pick

Ah Gerald Green... the one high schooler in the draft that could actually make a difference....

Also Dee Brown has Officially decided to stay at Illinois after breaking his foot earlier this year

And Bracey Wright is STILL in the draft which should make all hoosier fans rejoice

I agree with Bogut at #1.

    1. Bogut - Milwaukee (Utah)
    2. Marvin - Atlanta (N.C.)
    3. Paul - Portland (Wake)
    4. Deron - New Orleans (Illinois)
    5. Granger - Charlotte (New Mexico)

What really surprises me in this draft, is Salim Stoudemire, he could be a major sleeper. A lot of the top draft analist have him going in the second round. He can shoot 50% form behind the arc. He is small but he makes up for that with his quick shot realease. Why wouldnt a team jump on a talent like that in the first round?

So with that being said, I hope Detroit drafts him in the first round, it might a little early, but if anyone wathced the finals, Detroit coulda really used someone that could hit the three.

The thing with Salim is that he is to small to be a SG but doesn't have that mentality to be a pg. I think he will go in early-middle second round and will be a good pick for whoever drafts him.
