its worth the money for the stars...for less worthy players i get cards or get just get about 3-6 to fill up a panel of the ball for display

    This.

I buy the best balls, but I only get the best guys to sign the ball. For the 2nd tier stars and decent regulars I bring cards and 8x10s.

Finally, for the scrubs, I print an 8x10 of the team logo "washed out" and get them to sign it- someone on these forums got me going with that.

It has all worked pretty well for me- and the best balls are worth the money in the long run.

They're a lot cheaper than ROMLB, only like $30 per dozen. Also, they hold signatures very well over time.

However, they're harder to find because Anaconda stopped making them. And if you can find a place that sells the Rawlings Replica Major League Baseballs, those hold the sigs well too.

I think any ball that is made in China, you are taking a risk of the auto not holding up. They are not made of leather. JMO

thats exactly what I do- I only have like 5-6 signed baseballs. 8x10s and cards are much cheaper, and are easier to store- they serve my purposes well.
