1624 to be exact, and 231 of those are 1/1's, so it's about 1393 total.

well i see heres my fellow datsyuk collector lol ; )...i still havent 100% decided...i feel like itd be super fun to do a set of ice scripts or glacial graphs but that is gonna be EXPENSIVE with howe, orr, gretzky in those sets, but i feel the datsyuk collection might be cheaper, just ask everyone for their singles of him for a few bucks and im bound to have a couple hundred different ones in a couple weeks, but is also obviously not going to be 100% accomplished...what would your opinions be?

My two biggest collections are my Ranford, and my Oilers.... but I do them very differently.
For Ranford - I am trying to get 1 of everything (and am very close!)
For Oilers- I'm looking for a RC, Auto, GU, and 'Pictured as an Oiler' of every player that ever played for the team. If that ends up being 1 card (like a Cup ARP from Andrew Cogliano) then great. If that's 3 different cards (like a 1991 UD Rookie Card of Boris Mironov (as team USSR) , a 1997 BAP Auto (as an Oiler) and a 2001 Pacific GU card (as a Black Hawk)) then so be it.
For most players - I don't need (or want) a ton of GUs, Autos, etc. I mean.... I've got a couple of different Ales Hemsky autos - becuase he's been included in some very nice looking sets over the years - but once I've aquired what I'm looking for from a player, I'm generally done with him, and move onto the next guy.
The great thing is - the collection never gets old, and it never stops. There is always new guys to collect.

One thing you're going to run into is sellers thinking Datsyuk has much more hobby value than he actually does. He's my favorite player, probably the best all around player in the NHL, but he's Russian and doesn't play for the Canadiens or Maple Leafs. It still isn't exactly cheap to collect Datsyuk, but best of luck to you.

ranford i think thats what im going to try to do, opposite though...any real sick wings card that comes up ill hop on first, so everything is spread out player wise and have a lot of high enders, but still in the background go with the datsyuk PC
