Tattoos
I'll be turning 18 in June and I think I'm going to be getting a tattoo. Does anyone on here have any ideas for creative tattoos? Or what are the best tattoos you've seen? I'm not looking for anything huge or covering lots of skin. And I want to try and find something meaningful as opposed to just getting something that 'looks cool.'
As far as ideas, there have been a considerable amount of people I knew that have passed on, and I would like to kind of honor them in a tattoo (not necessarily in a religious way though). And other than that, I have literally no clue what to come up with or what I could get. Just seeing if there's any ideas that I like out there!

I've never gotten a tattoo, but all I'd advise is to make sure it's not on the forearm or another area that tends to be highly visible to the public, because there are many employers out there who won't hire people because of readily observable tattoos (don't agree with this position at all, but it's a reality some people have to contend with when they get tattoos).

Yeahh the only place I'm going to get one is my upper arm only. I wouldn't want tattoos covering my lower arms, there's something about it I just don't like lol.

I'm 36 and was thinking about getting one quite a bit this last winter. I'm an artist and would want to design my own so that sort of keeps me from doing it... lots of other things going on. I agree with the coverage issue, but if I got one I'd want it where it would be seen. I was thinking of the inside of my forearm or maybe the wrist.
I'd say that since you don't know exactly what you want, give it some time. You're 18 and you will change a lot as a person over the next 10 years or so. I'd make sure not to get one just because you want one. Definitely give it lots of thought to decide what you want exactly. I wouldn't put a time limit on it just because you are legal age to get one.

I have 5 tattoos and working on getting my back and left arm done. If you are asking people for ideas that means that you are not ready to get one. This has to be something personal and something that you really like. This is something that you are going to be looking at for the rest of your life. They don't have to mean anything but all of my tattoos have a story behind them or a specific reason why I chose that one.
Make sure you want it, think about it and then get it done. I do not care about what people think about tattoos because it is the way I feel. If they don;t like it, well. I am in the military so I have my arms cover all day pretty much.

Well it's not that I have no clue and I'm asking for ideas. I have some ideas that I would love to do. I'm really just seeing what other cool ideas and tattoos there are out there, just to see. And it's not like I'm absolutely getting one when I turn 18. If I'm not set or ready then I'm not going to. I just figured that since I eventually want one, I might as well start the talk when I'm almost 18.

Well, if you have an idea of what you want, there are free websites that you can go in an get more ideas and details for your desired one. You can see them in color, black, etc. you can see different versions and make additions.
My best advice would be to get one custome made if youn know someone that can draw.

I have my last name in Old English lettering down my right tricep. I plan on getting a few more but I am not sure what. I got the one I have now when I was 17 and I really like it.
I would say just give it some thought. You will eventually figure out what it is exactly that you want. Good luck in your decision!
