Press Plates?
I have always wondered are press plates heavy than regular cards?
If they are wouldn't it be really easy to pick up pack and feel thats its really heavy?

They aren't as heavy as you think they might be. They are actually very thin.

Press plates depending on the process used can be in some cases smaller than an actual card...
I do some work with my mother's friend's newspaper and get to see the printer make up the plates for the current weeks paper. The plates are about 3'x30", and miniscule when looked at from the sides, fit 4 pages on one sheet and have to be handled with lots of care... If they hit the wall when walking down the stairs, they usually re-do the entire plate because one nick will make the page have a stupid looking mark....
Sometimes though I do question the authenticity of plates put into packs because lets say it is for a basecard that was printed 20,000+ times, that's a lot of wear and tear on the plate. The best newspaper printing plates are usually only good for "x" amount of prints. I know the Fuji plates used by our printer have stated use of approx. 16,500 prints...
