Roenick Rips Into Marleau - "Fans Deserve a Better Effort"
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=365195
Jeremy Roenick has never been one to keep his opinions close to his chest and let it all out on a former teammate on Sunday night.
The former NHLer, who's now a commentator for Versus in the U.S., called out former San Jose Sharks teammate Patrick Marleau after Sunday's loss to Detroit, saying his performance was, "gutless" and also questioned the former team captain's heart.
"An unbelievably poor effort from Patrick Marleau," Roenick said on Versus. "A gutless, gutless, performance by Patrick Marleau. Count them - zero points in this series. And he had a game like that."
When a question came up about whether Marleau was hurt on a play by Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk, Roenick responded saying, "Oh, yeah, he got hurt," and pointed to his heart.
The 20-year NHL veteran then backed up his statements on Twitter later in the evening.
"Marleau has his fans, and that's great," he tweeted. "I am not one of them and won't pretend to be! I love the sharks w a passion and think the fans deserve a better effort than Marleau has given in this series."
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Heard this on the radio today, not too surprised that JR said what he said, he's known to be outspoken. I haven't seen too much of SJ in these playoffs, so I'm not sure if it's warranted.
Hope Marleau and the Sharks dominate Detroit and close those bums out in 6!l collect Philadelphia Eagles (NO VICK CARDS), Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Tigers.

I'd say his comments are a bit much but it's technically not wrong. Marleau has been invisible all series and it definitely isn't helping the sharks in any way. Just watch the GWG from game 5 and you will see...hopefully Marleau hears this and tries to prove him wrong

Roenick is a jerk. He's right, but he's still a jerk.

Honestly, he's 100% right. He could have done it in a better way or not as harsh, but he didn't.

Did Jeremy Roenick ever do better than this as a stat line after 5 games in a series?

Yes. A couple dozen times.

Watching the reply of this, JR looks like an amateur with 0 confidence in what he's saying. As much as I disliked him on the ice, he was a good player. He's lousy on TV, though.
