Yeah, with the low prices of these boxes, this seems like a hold over set. I'll still buy a box or two though.

Im actually suprised with the case and box prices. With boxes being $40 and 8 box cases being $310 they are priced even higher than regular 2010 was on presell. I locked in my first case of 2010 for $290 I believe. That set had Undetaker, Jericho and Triple H autos advertised. It also included dual autos, jumbo swatches and a supposed "case hit". Even with all those things advertised the price stayed at $290-$300. Even though most of the stuff advertised ended up not happening it still offered more than this product seems to. You still got 2 hits a box with a chance at low numbered parallels and a good chance at a 1/1.( I pulled 6 1/1's out of 5-6 cases of this stuff)The price still stayed relatively low until Christmas ($40-$45 a box)when it became hard to find. I got a case at Christmas for $315. So whil ethe price is fairly cheap for s hobby box of cards, it really seems like a glorified retail box. You can "Look for Rare Foil Inserts" to quote the sell sheet. That is about a decade too late, Insert collecting was the buisness in the 1990's and early 2000's, not 2011. People aren't interested in inserts anymore. A complete set of Blue Parallel from 2010( which took about 1 case to complete) sells for $15. Cards either have to have ink or a piece of shirt on it to be worth it in most peoples eyes.

this will probably just be a prelude to a regular 2011 topps set...hopefully. I will probably only be buying the autos and I will probably be waiting at least a month to do that. I remember when platinum first launched and a david otunga auto went for $45. how would you like to be that guy who paid 10x what it usually brings haha. I do have to say there doesn't seem to be any bum autos in this set. it looks like all solid mid carders and above and no caylan croft and curt hawkins.

Yeah, I will be probally be buying only 2 boxes to get base cards. Wish they would have a better selection of Autographs though. Like that Vladimir Kozlov finally has one.

In theory that will be the smartest thing to do but I'm unsure if that will happen with this set. With Platinum even non wrestling collectors were opening it up because it was cheap and got 3 hits. That made the surplus on ebay and actually made prices very low on most cards for a while about a month after the release. THat is when you should have bought every card you wanted. I dont see that happening with this product. With us wrestling collectors only saying we are going to open 1-2 boxes, non wrestling collectors arent going to open case after case of this stuff. While the first few autos of each person will go for the premium, if the autos do fall the stated 1:150 packs there wont be the major fall in prices because there just wont be the amount of autographs on the market at one time.

sportsdude is completely right. When Platinum first broke I had a field day keeping track of stuff, I picked up pretty much everything I need for much less that what it was selling at now. Like I paid no more than $25 for all of the triple relics I picked up, even the Cena/Edge/HHH one. If anything prices are starting to pick up now because of how scare the boxes are getting. I'm not expeting the auto prices to go insane on this set but when its $240 for a single auto and maybe 12 or so base sets they might be a little high..

Besides, this really is the diet set comared to the absolute feast that was Platinum.

i agree and disagree. every product gets opened up nowadays no matter what. high price points will be made by people that go straight to ebay such as $99.99 for many of the autos. no matter how bad the product is, it will get opened up and prices will drop. no matter what we all say we will get curious and buy it because no one can really resist unopened product. people kept opening up platinum well after prices had dropped and they would maybe get 1/3 to 1/2 of the box value back out of it. the autos in this will probably go for more than other products. there hasn't been a wrestling product in recent memory that has made the autos that high of odds for a while. even like the 2007 action you still got a relic or auto every box. i'm confident people will bust it open no matter what. some people have more money than brains

I agree with the bolded part. Also I think you are right that we will see plenty with high BIN like $99.99 or even higher.
    Look at the link
    http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_trkparm...&_sop=16&_sc=1

People still are trying to sell MVP and Evan bourne regular auto relics for $50. So I am sure it will be the same for these.
I just hope the autos look good, a good auto design would really help out this product.
