You could sense it coming together just after Christmas. You could start to see something special was beginning to form. It unfortunately fell just a little short.

When Alexandre Beauregard scored at 15: 45 of the second overtime Sunday night, the Saint John Sea Dogs won their first Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship while denying the Gatineau Olympiques their eighth.

Had the Olympiques been able to hang onto a one-goal lead in the final 30 seconds and force a Game 7, what a story it might have been.

As it is, it was still a pretty good tale.
