"Hot Packs" how do they know?
Sorry if there has been a thread on this topic before, but I notice many hot pack auctions that state there will be a hit (auto, relic etc.) in the pack. Beyond just opening a box until the last couple and knowing that hits remain by box odds, is there another way to know? Inside info or something else? Prolly a stoopid question but its a head scratcher 4 me.
Thanks

It is usually pack searchers that list these auctions and there are ways to "search" packs without actually opening them. Most of the methods include bending packs and fanning the cards inside the pack with your finger nails to tell whats inside them. These methods and the shear practice of them are overwhelmingly frowned upon in the hobby.

Or they are opened and resealed so you will never get anything good, I would say that is 95% of them.

I know this from seeing someone do it. The majority of hot packs are sealed. The people that do it have very accurate digital scales that are pocket sized, and they go into the store, set the little scale on the shelf and just start grabbing packs and if they weigh the same, then they are normal... anything else, hot pack. I'm sure they have it down to a science, but I do know weighing them has become the norm... Also a VERY good reason to only buy open hobby boxes at a shop if you trust the person who runs it!
