Brian Rafalski To Retire...

Well, I'm not sure how to deal with this. I figured he'd play out his contract given he only has one year left...Part of me is really happy. If Lidstrom comes back odds are he'll take less (4 mil) and help out the Wings. The bad part is our D stinks the high heavens. Losing Rafalski, who is great on the powerplay and is a veteran talent hurts. Granted, Rafalski had too many turnovers and was poor defensively.
This has led me to do a team management thread, which will be posted later.

Yeah, first the loss of Jenkins, and for other fellow Michiganders the retirement of Rafalski. Not a good start to the week for Michigan hockey fans...
I have a feeling Holland will be very interested in Yandle and Bieska this off season though. I don't see Ericsson coming back.

i was very shocked that rafalski retired, that takes a big hit on their D, i have a feeling lidstrom might retire as well and if that happens detroit will be really hurting on D.

I wonder if the Red Wings would be interested in Thomas Kaberle providing he doesn't re-sign with Boston.
