    Wax purchase help please....

I am a baseball guy who just started buying hockey and with a gift card I have am going to buy a hockey box or two. I am definatly buying a box of Contenders but am trying to decide between SP Game Used and SP Authentic. Which is a better value in your opinion? Your feedback is appreciated.

Do you usually get something nice in a box of SPGU or are their alot of dud boxes?

Both grossly overpriced, SP Game Used however guarentees you some hits whereas SP Authentic could be $100+ for Signed RC's of 2 No-Namers and a high print run no name SOTT. SP Game used for sure.

OK, so far leaning towards the SP Game Used......do any expierenced hockey breakers think I should go forward with this or try a different product all together? I want to try a product I wouldn't normally buy as it is a gift card but I don't want to buy a box that I have a 90% chance of getting skunked either. I would buy second box of Contenders but I want a chance at non-rookie/old timer/retired stuff.

Update as I have to get my order in the next hour: So far my plan is:

    1. One of the above stated hockey boxes unless convinced to switch to another product

    2. 2 boxes of Bowman Platinum Baseball

    3. Either a box of 2010 Bowman Draft or 2010 Certified Football

Any feedback is appreciated.....usually the only product I buy is Bowman

I really like Crown Royale hockey. Check it out and see what you think. I think the Rookie Silhouettes are the best looking cards out right now.

I like SP Game Used personally. I've only had one meh box out of 4 or 5. Usually you get at least 1 decent hit. SP Authentic is kind of hit or miss, but for the price it's not that bad. Since it's a gift card, I would go for the SP Game Used. Have a chance of hitting something sweet and unique that you probably wouldn't get elsewhere.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I changed it up a little bit and went with the following:

1 box of 2010/11 Upper Deck SP Game Used Hockey
1 box of 2010/11 Playoff Contenders
and pre ordered a box of 2011 Topps Marquee Baseball. This is something I would never pony up the cash for at $175 a box. But take a look at the sell sheet, this stuff looks sick

Thanks to all who gave feedback to help in my decision. Adam
