New Collector, Please Show Me the Ropes...

Ok, so Im 16, and just started collecting. I have no job, but do some odd jobs around the neighborhood, to get some money. I have bought...around 12 packs of 10/11 UD black diamond 1 pack SPx a blaster of 9/10 artifacts and 10/11 UD series 1.

I now have like $30 to my name, and im creating my bucket in a few minuets. I have some hits, nothing big, but i did pull a P.K subban rookie gems.

I am wondering what you guys do with your cards.
Do you sell them to buy more
    Just keep buying and collecting
    Trade cards to sell/make profit

I just dont know what to do now that i have a few decent cards...

    Any responses would be great.
    THANKS,
    -Zack

It looks like to me that you're not organized and don't have any set goals. You might want to - at the very least - iron out your finances and see how much you can commit to this hobby given your income. Do keep in mind that trading/selling for someone with limited income is very difficult - especially trading since shipping costs will kill you. Next, you should sit down and think about what do you want to collect ie. Player, Team, Set, Wax busting, etc. There's no sense for you to open packs/boxes/cases (given your income) when all you want to collect is one player or one team, for example.

The first thing you want to do is decide what you want to collect. Maybe a certain set, player, or team. It is very possible to collect on a low income (trust me I do it), but opening packs and boxes is not the best way to do it. I only buy, sell, and trade and very rarely open packs. Good luck building your collection!

Figure out players/teams you really like. Then, trade your nicer cards of guys you don't particularly care for to other people on here for the guys you like. for example, if I had that subban I would either sell it to get my money back + a little extra and buy a card of someone who you want to collect, or trade it to someone on here for a guy I collect. In the long run, you will lose money like all the rest of us, but it's the joy of collecting thats worth it. :)

plus, you have some nice rookies in your bucket. sometimes its the guys you dont hear about but they sneak up in terms of value.

I would visit local shows and find either the cards you like for your pc or pickup multiple cards for trading/selling. It's one of the most common methods of raising money or cards for collecting.

I can concur with busting packs. I enjoy the thrill, but most of the time money might not be that well spent cause it may or may not in your case cost you all your available funds in one shot without getting anything in value.
