Sending requests without return address
For guys who tend to just reject all of their mail at times such as Red Schoendienst and Ralph Kiner is it just best to leave off your return address on the envelope? Would like to know if you guys have had better success using this method?
Thanks.

On the envelope to them and not the SASE? I can't see that making any difference. It will more than likely just get thrown away by them or the PO.

Yeah on the envelope to them. I always heard there was a trick with Red Schoendienst where you could leave off your return address or put his return address on it instead and he would end up returning but I'm not sure if it actually worked for a lot of people.

The PO is not suppose to accept any mail w/o a return address from my understanding...

I never have return addresses on my SASEs and they come back to me anyways

This is very risky & pretty much a last resort but, perhaps putting " donation enclosed " on the envelope ( with a donation of course ) would entice them to open your letter.

Do not laugh but taking a little more time with the envelope sometimes helps with the tough to get guys. I have taken time to write players accomplishments like MVP, CY YOUNG, All STAR, HR CHAMP or whatever in pencil on the outside of the envelope. Phil Niekro was no good for like 4 attempts till I drew a baseball next to his address and placed his uniform number on the ball, caught his eye and I got my success!

I'd heard the same thing so I tried it on my 4th try with Red Schoendienst. He just opened my envelope, moved everything to my SASE, and mailed it back. So if that's what you were thinking of doing by all means give it a shot but just know it might not work and just end up wasting more stamps than just a plain old RTS.
