Storing/Prtoecting my Cards
"Protecting"
Hello all,
I'm a brand new collector and have a few questions on what to do with my cards.
How do I store my cards? What cards a worth extra prtection? Should every insert card be in a hard case? Is every young gun I pull worth keeping out of a binder? Are binders a crappy way of keeping base cards? For example, my first two boxes have been UD series 1. I've got a handful of reg. young guns. Some jersey cards. The 20th ann. retro cards. A redemption on the way for a 20th ann. Sidney Crosby Autograph (#/90, yes Im bragging, haha). I just want to know how I should be keeping my cards.
I hopped back on the hockey card train after probably 15 years since I loved collecting them and Ive found the excitment again. I like looking at them again and again. A coule of box breaks have got me hooked, but I don't want to throw an elastic around them and put them in a shoe box ala 12 year old me.
Thanks in adavance for any advice.Last edited by Sknut; 06-16-2011 at 09:53 AM. Reason: I acknowledge my lack of proof reading

As both a set collector and a player collector I store my cards in different ways. My player collection has non-GU'd in a binder and GU'd in hard sleeves in a box. My sets I put in boxes and label the boxes with what set it is and if complete or not. As for inserts in hard sleeves it depends on the value. I don't put lower value cards in sleeves you will find it takes up too much space and too much money if you do. JMO. Good luck and welcome back to the hobby!

All my base sets are in binders that are marked and in order on my shelves. For the SP's from the set they are in monster boxes with a soft sleve and hard plastic. For the more expensive cards they are in one touches.
My player collection is all in softsleves and top loaders or in snap cases or one touches in a monster box.
