Looks kind of like the top layer of the card (with the photo/graphics) at the bottom of the Kane patch has been torn off. Could see why one might think the patch was removed / replaced. A close-up scan of the area might be more revealing.

seems like someone would make all the patches ridiculously good if they wanted to fake it, but it could go either way. Nice card in any regard.

I've got a card from that set which has a heck of a piece of shoulder patch used (even though both of the other swatches are one-colour). Reckon that's genuine.

Almost looks like glue leaked out of that whole side especially that corner during the manufacturing process

Looks like part of the shoulder patch or main crest patch...the blackhawk ones are honestly some of the most intricate and detailed ones...saw one of toews from the cup which was the edge of the tomahawks and that green weave in behind it...really stunning card, that card is worth big bucks since it's patch chunks, not just a regular jersey quad, and it's a SSP /9!!

P.S. as a side note....4 of my patch/jersey cards have loose stitching sticking around the corners of the frame/overlapping the edges...just the way it goes sometimes...putting this stuff into cardboard isn't exactly the easiest process
