The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees played the Lehigh Valley IronPigs last night for the 4th of July, needless to say I was stoked for some baseball and fireworks. I'd say the night went pretty well, got a whopping record for myself thus far of 15 graphing the IronPigs.
Here's what I got...
Pregame:
Justin De Fratus
Ryan Edell
Mike Zagurski
Brian Bacock
Tagg Bozied
Jeff Larish
Delwyn Young
All of these were on an 8x10 logo sheet.
Post Game:
Jason Grilli on a Topps 2010 card
Brian Bass
Ryan Feierabend
Tim Redding
Pete Orr
Cody Overbeck
Tyson Brummett
And one I cannot remember, possible Michael Schwimmer.

Don't mind my scanner, it's kinda crappy..and apparently there's stuff inside it lol.
Ryne Sandberg DID NOT sign after the game. That was an utter disappointment. I cannot tell you how excited I was to get him and then...nothing. We don't know whether he snuck out early or what, but the man did not come out of the IronPigs locker room. Before the game he signed a few autographs BUT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE DUGOUT. Almost no one ever signs on that side..but he did, lol. Oh well!
I might run up to Scranton to try and catch him after tonight's game to sign my 8x10. Maybe it'll be less hectic and he'll be willing to sign post-game.
I also failed to get John Mayberry, Jr. though I learned that that's because he's a jerk more than anything else. I had 4x6 for him to sign. Didn't sign for one little kid and failed to acknowledge anyone before or after the game. EVERY SINGLE other player on the roster signed. *shrugs* Can't win em all.
Overall I had a great time, now I'm looking forward to Friday when the Mets' squad the Buffalo Bison roll into town. Hopefully Jenrry Mejia will be along for the trip and I can grab him!

Nothing better to do on the 4th of July than to take in some baseball! Sorry to hear about Ryno though.

Sandberg normally signs before games but rarely after the games

Yep, it was a blast nonetheless!
Gah, well that is good to know. Wouldve been nice to get him, might have to make a trip to Allentown to get him!
Also, that auto I couldn't remember is Scott Podsednik, don't know how I forgot about that!

I was there a few weeks ago and Got Ryno before the game. I was told that he does not come out the locker room exit. He parks in the regular lot along the 3rd base side. The player locker room is on the 1st base side.
Jenry Meija had Tommy John and is on the DL for the rest of the year. Not sure he will travel with the teamLast edited by howiek; 07-05-2011 at 09:16 PM.

That looks like a great day! Love the way the logo sheet looks...too bad about Sandberg, but I'm sure you'll get another shot sometime. Jealous of the Scott Podsednik too; always liked him!

That's a good thing to know for next time, rare for opposing players/coaches to come out of the other exit, but I did see it the last time I graphed the Yanks side.
I'm doubtful Mejia will be there but I have a 4x6 beckoning his signature. Hopefully he's there, if not, still should be a good graph day.
The logo sheet looks beautiful and I've officially fallen in love with Staedtlers. Podsednik was a real friendly guy and signed for everyone who wanted him. Didn't play in the game, but he wasn't listed on the program so I wonder if he just got Lehigh(?).Last edited by loki1230; 07-06-2011 at 07:57 PM.

Sorry, I thought you said they played in Allentown, not Scranton. I was told that when the Iron Pigs where playing home

No worries. I was wondering why some of the everyday graphers were baffled he didn't come out, but I think he just snuck out during the fireworks show while the rest of the team watched. Probably a little disappointed about the loss I assume.

Had a VERY productive past two days and a whole lot of fun with it all. The Yanks were scheduled to play the Mets' AAA squad the Buffalo Bisons yesterday but the game was unfortunately rained out. Fortunately, I lucked out anyhow and got a handful of autos as the team headed for the bus for a long trip to Pawtucket. All listed are on a Buffalo Bisons logo sheet I made unless noted otherwise...
Fernando Martinez on a Topps 2010 card
Mark Cohoon
Ryota Igorashi
Pat Misch
Taylor Tankersley
Dale Thayer
Zach Lutz
Luis Figueroa
Michael Fisher
Jason Botts
Bubba Bell
Tim Teufel (manager and former Mets player)
Mike Easler
Ricky Bones
Kirk Nieuwenhuis
Jonathan Malo
I think there's two others, but I have no idea who they are.
Today at the stadium, the SWB Yankees held an Auction and Autograph Party. My fiance and I had a blast running around to each table (six tables of 4-5 players/coaches) and getting everyone's autograph. Most of the players were very friendly, with the exception of table 6 where everyone was oddly miserable with the exception of Kevin Whelan who had his son hanging out with him.
Here's what I got, if not noted I got them on the team poster...
Gustavo Molina on a 5x7 and the team poster
Brandon Laird on an 8x10
Dan Brewer on an 8x10
Greg Golson on an 8x10
Justin Parraz
Randy Flores
David Phelps
Kevin Whelan
Butch Wynegar (Hitting Coach)
Dave Miley (Manager)
Frank Menechino (coach)
Kevin Russo
Doug Bernier
PJ Pilittere
Jorge Vazquez (2011 IL All-Star)
Eric Wordekemper
Buddy Carlyle
Andrew Brackman
Austin Krum
Terry Tiffee
Lance Pendleton
Adam Warren
Logan Kensing
Josh Schmidt
Mike Lamb
Scott Aldred (Pitching Coach)
Luis Nunez
And the big ones...I got Jesus Montero on the poster and then on an ROMLB (with a much nicer auto then on my CROLB or 5x7 of him) and the very first auto I got (and made sure to get) was Ivan Nova on an ROMLB!
These two alone made my day, but getting the rest of the team and enjoying ourselves was a big plus for me. I had ordered a set of customs from Adorama to be signed...but they didn't show up in time! My fault, but I was really hoping to get those done today. Guess they'll have to wait till the next game I go to.
I also had a 2010 Topps Heritage for Chris Dickerson to sign...but he failed to show up. Not sure why and none of the players seemed all too pleased about it, so that sucked, but I guess I lucked out if the guy didn't care to come to something that was for such a good cause.
Overall, I had a very good weekend and myself and the fiance really enjoyed ourselves. With the rain out last night, I'll be trading those tickets in along with another pair for two other games this season so I'll keep you all updated. As of right now the next game isn't until the 22nd vs. Syracuse. I'll be sure to post pictures of everything soon!
