Personally, I think the Lakers and us fans just need to be patient. I don't want them to make a trade, just for the sake of of making a trade. This is a proven championship team, and I'll be more then happy in keeping the core of our roster intact.

Exactly!! And he is still young. He will retire early because of his knees.

I disagree, change can be good. Things can get stale and predictable. You get in a rut and opposing teams have an easier time defending the same old plays. Some fresh blood is exactly what this team needs!
There will be trades....oh yes.....there WILL be trades.Last edited by Simi Card; 06-21-2011 at 05:44 PM.

Don't think any of these trades will be completed. How many rumors do we hear about actually come true. Most trades that happen are sort of "out of the blue". If a team wants a trade to get done, it's floated around internally and never gets out to the public. That being said and as much as I hate the Lakers, a Gasol for Love and #2 pick would be terrible for LA.
Even though Gasol is in his early 30's, he still has 2-3 very good years left. His years left in his prime coincides with Kobe's. A deft in the paint passer, low post scorer and decent rebounder, he also provides nice shot blocking/altering. Pau is a legit #2 option and whatever problems he presented in this years playoffs, did you forget that he won you laker fans 2 championships (and yes, kobe wouldn't have won anything without the trade with Memphis).
Love is a great up and coming player. A phenomenal rebounder and hustle guy with great outlook passes. He's not as adept at scoring down low and can't block shots. Love would be a great #3 option. Him as a #2 isn't ideal, which is what he'd become if he comes to the Lakers. Obviously Love's prime is still 3-4 years away so by that time, kobe will have aged and won't be the same #1 option as before. Where would this leave the Lakers with Love as being their prime player? They'd be a middle of the pack type team (the worst position to be in, IMO, ie. are you rebuilding? are you trying to contend? etc)
Bynum should be traded for whatever the Lakers can get. He hasn't been healthy in his entire career (barring his second season).

I would get rid of Bynum but will keep Gasol. Bynum is injury proned and I keep saying it, he is overrrated. The Lakers do not need him to get back in the race.

He is injury prone for sure. People his size have trouble jumping and running all day every day...that's a lot of impact on the knees. Shaq had a lot of injuries too. Not sure overrated is the right word, I think inconsistent and immature are better ways to describe him. When he is focused and healthy, he can be a major force on the court and a real asset. When he first came back after his last knee injury he proved how much he was missed and played very well for half a dozen games. Problem is he has more off days then on and gets frustrated easily. Yeah, he'd be the first to trade if you ask me. He is young and talented enough to actually be worth something to another team and we can do much better.

Yet another rumor floating around is that the Lakers are considering trading Odom with cleveland for Anderson Varejao and their #4 pick. Not a bad deal because they can do a lot with the #4 pick. Maybe offer the #4 pick and Bynum to the Magic for Dwight Howard. If you ask me, we should do just about anything we can to get D. Howard over here! Plus Varejao knows Brown and is strong on defense which is what we need.
Lose Bynum and Odom and pick up Howard and Varejao, I think I could sleep at night if that's how it worked out.

Apparently the Wolves just rejected the Lakers' offer of Odom for the #2.

There is no chance Cleveland would do that. Odom doesnt help them at all and is nothing but a money pit. Zero chance.
