    Dilemma....need advice.

I could use a a bit of advice. I'm currently working project to get a 1968 Cardinals photo signed by everyone still alive. There are 8 players in total. Most are guys that are Hall of Famers, so I've been having to pay for players (Bob Gibson & Lou Brock) most recently.

I recently sent off my item to a signing where Mike Shannon and Orlando Cepeda were attending. I dropped about a 100 buck for both of them. The form I filled out had a section for "special instructions". I put down I them to sign the photo in a specific color (I have 4 sigs already...all in the same color).

I just got back my photo and they both signed in a different color then what the other 4 had done. My goal was to have everyone sign in the same color so the photo has some continutiy. I kind of feel like the ruined my project.

What's a fair solution...if any? I spent some good cash on their signing....should have been done the way I requested. I've also spent a lot cash prior! I have emailed the promoter, but haven't heard back.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks

I think you're going to be out of luck in this instance if the promoter wants to hardball you. I don't think it could hurt to ask for a refund, but I doubt you'll get it.

I don't really get too hung up on color when it comes to autos (my Phillies SI cover has some in black and some in blue) but I know that for some people that's a big deal, so if it really bothers you then pursue it I guess.

Can you call? Phone is 100X better than email for this kind of thing.

[Also, you are probably about to learn why I NEVER spend money on professional signings- these guys are only out for a quick buck and will probably tell you to go screw yourself]

Good luck either way and I'm sorry that happened bro, that really sucks a lot.

Man, that's a tough one. Did you send along a pen with your desired color and instructions? At least if you did, the promoter may realize it was his bad (but I really doubt it!). I know you wanted the color consistency but sometimes having the different color autographs makes a picture "pop a little more." Good luck with the promoter because I have never had any luck with those guys...

To place a mail in order with this company you had to fill out a form that rquired your return address, your order and various other things. One of those things were special instructions. I clearly marked how I wanted the item graphed and was specific with color.

I have a legitimate complaint right? Do you think if I removed the autograph they have access to those guys to resign?

Personally, I would not try to remove the sigs. I know on an actual photgraph how to remove sigs by using a "Dry Erase Marker" but I just wouldn't risk it on a picture that I "really" treasured. I would pursue trying to get some of your money refunded but I wouldn't expect too much from that promoter.

I'd definitely give that guy a call and see if you can get a partial refund. That would be the most fair solution.

or ask for some different autos for a new collection instead of money back that might be easier

I think everyone else has kind of summed it up. Try for it but don't expect much. They got your money and sent your the autograph. They didn't follow the instructions, but it could have been that the player didn't want to sign in a particular color (probably not the case though).

Continue to pursue it and see what, if anything they will do for you. If you don't try you will not get anything and at least you won't be out anything additional other than your time.

You might want to consider getting different colors and such. I know with my HOF book I wanted it signed in black sharpie. Doerr signed in ball point and Irvin signed in blue so that went out the window. Now its all over the map and it looks great. Honestly, the "worst" looking page is the one signed by Cepeda, Perry, Irvin, and Jenkins all in blue sharpie. It has no differencing characteristics between the sigs. The best page is the one with Roberts, Killebrew, and Ford in black sharpie along with Jackson and Doerr in blue ballpoint. I think there may be a blue sharpie graph on that page as well.

Just trying to give you some hope that it could be a positive.
