Paul Kariya Retires
http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=567729
Paul Kariya, who finished an illustrious career as a member of the St. Louis Blues, announced his retirement from professional hockey on Thursday.
The following statement was released on Kariya's behalf by his agent, Don Baizley.
“Today, I announce my retirement from professional hockey. I would like to thank all of those who have been part of so many great memories – my teammates, coaches, team management and staff," Kariya said in the statement.
"I am also very grateful for the support I have received over the years from the fans, especially those in Anaheim, Colorado, Nashville, and St. Louis. It was my dream to be a professional hockey player in the NHL from my minor hockey days in North Vancouver and Burnaby, through junior hockey in Penticton, college hockey at the University of Maine, and the Canadian National Team.
"I would not have achieved it without support from all of these people and organizations.”
Kariya played in 168 games with the Blues over three seasons (2007-10), registering 36 goals and 87 assists (123 points). He finished his career with 989 NHL games, including 402 goals and 587 assists (989 points).
Always a class act. It's too bad that he suffered through the last year with post-concussion syndrome - he was a guy that always gave it his all and it would have been nice to see him be able to resume his career.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Dang, he use to be one of my favorite players, I was really hoping he'd be able to come back for those last 11 points to reach 1000.
