How do you know?
Many people claim to have the best player collection in the world but what verifies it? Having the most 1/1s of that particular player? How do you know you have the best PC?
Here's where I'm coming from...Nate Prosser only has 21 cards and I only have ten (including one on the way), but I have six cards serial-numbered /100 or less including two of the five 1/1 he has out there. Would this be the best Prosser collection in the world or could I officially say it is after aquiring one more 1/1? Just thought this would be an interesting discussion.

Usually you compare it to other people collections of the same player

Well...as far as I know...I'm the only Prosser player collector. There may be some Wild team collectors that pick up a few Prosser pieces here and there...but that's about it.

Then if you're the only collector you know of that collects him, I'd call it the best

Quality & quantity. If there's someone out there that has 17 Prosser cards, his/her collection is better than yours.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Hard to say, really.. If a player had, say, 100 cards, and one collector had 75 of those 100, and player B had 65, but B's swatches were all "premium" (3+ colours each, multiple breaks, etc) vs A's all plain, single-colour swatches.. who is to say which collection is "best"?
Interesting discussion

Yeah.... anyone who's claiming to have the best collection of 'Player X' out there is assuming that based on the total number of cards available - nobody has more complete one.
The whole idea is flawed though - becuase it depends on the fact that you know who all the other people that collect that player are.
I know I have the most complete Bill Ranford collection, of any Bill Ranford collection I've seen. Doesn't mean I've got the best one out there (I'd like to think I do.... but it really doesn't mean much).

Normally you will compete for the best cards made of the player. In the past, we know who were the bidders on eBay, so easier to know who was interested in some particular cards/players. If you win most of his nicest rarest cards released on the market, your chances are strong for you to get the nicest collection through the years.

You've got my vote.
I'd like to see someone trot out a better Gorges collection than mine, while we're at it.

You know though..... there's a guy out west (I forget from where.... Manitoba maybe?) who's got many more 1/1s than I do (I know.... becuase during that whole 'poor college student' phase, he always beat me on eBay for them
).
I doubt his total collection is as complete as mine, but you never know.
As for Georges, I think you're safe!
