Usually the worst possible scenario is to buy loose packs at retails stores like Walmart or Target, as they are almost always searched already. It only works if you really just want to pull some plain base, RC's, or evens some inserts with nothing too special about them. As for blaster boxes, last weekend a bought a Rookie Debut blaster box and got a ROY predictor card, a Michael Vick Sunday Swatch and a Dan Cody rookie auto. Yesterday I tried to repeat, and I got "just" a Ernest Shazor Saturday Swatch. Pretty cool for retail blaster boxes, in my opinion. If you take a careful look, in some sets they will even guarantee a memorabilia card in one of those $19.99 blasters as well.

I usually get them here and there from K-Mart. I do quite well too. I mean for $20 or $10 for the 8-pack, I`ve gotten some really good cards out of them. Resold those on eBay so I could get more only to resell them so I could get more only to resell them so I could get more. :new_shock Sounds like an old Cocaine commercial!

Personally, I prefer buying retail (sealed boxes only) to satisfy my need to rip packs. The high-end products are too expensive for me to buy in hopes of getting a GU/Auto card of a decent player (for trade or collection).
I've had some really good, decent and down right poor luck w/retail.
Really good - J.Rice Auto/3clr-ProBowl jersey card
Decent - I think is any GU or Auto pull.
Poor - no need to explain...an empty well.

Buying those "blaster boxes" are not to shabby. I was curious about those boxes once. I bought a couple of the 2003-2004 Upper Deck Honor Roll Basketball box off of amazon.com. I pulled a Michael Jordan Principals auto/jersey card (redemption). If those are the same compared to what Target sells, I really do not see the difference. The only difference that I see with retail and hobby are the odds of the pulls. The ratios are different. I don't know about when some people say retail is loaded with crap cards.
