1998 Red Wing Hockey Stick Autoed
I do not collect hockey what so ever nore I really know anything about it. However I do collect baseball.
I was up in Michigan here for the last week and seen an Autographed hockey stick.
The man said it was his sons before he left home and left it behind.
The hockey stick looks brand new and has been sitting in a closet.
There are 3 autos on it which I could not make out their names but they did mark their jersey numbers.
The guy sold it to me for a price I could not refuse.....$3........ Yeah that is it.
Lucky for me he also had an NHL miniture championship hockey stick with all the players of the time on a different table. There I seen all 3 players already printed out with their sugnatures there.
Of course still did not know who they were.
So I looked up the players on line and found out who they were
#33 Kris Draper
#20 Martin Lapointe
#18 Kirk Maltby
Here is my question...
Who were these guys and how sugnificant is this stick?
The hockey stick is an Easton Ultra LAMI
Sorry guys this is not for sale but an really interested in it since I never had one before.
Also picked up a Hockey puck from the red wings as well autoed but once again don't know who it is....
Any help is appreciated
LMK
Thanks

Maltby & Draper were members (along with Joey Kocur that year... or was it Darren McCarty in '98??) of the "Grind Line". They really shut down the opposing teams' top lines and were a fan favourite.
Lapointe was another long-time winger for Detroit, who was on the '97 and '98 Stanley Cup winning teams.

Nice I learn something every day. So I can honestly say it was a good find then? lol
Thanks for the info. I am pretty sure it is worth more than I paid for it.
Unfortunelty it will be in my collection for a while.
What is the best way to protect it though?
Do they even sale hockey stick covers like they do bats, and balls?
If they do where can I get one?
