How is it that I can pick up a Pacific Joe Sakic jersey card numbered to 231 or even 100 for 10-20 dollars from eBay or my local card show but if there's a "McDonalds" in the name I wind up paying $103?????? And Ron Francis, numbered out 240, cost me 87 bucks, and if I hadn't won it some other guy was willing to pony up $83........Ok, these cards are rare, but they're not THAT rare, why the demand??????? Rant over, thank you.

McDonald's jersey cards are sickeningly rare. Keep in mind that there is an astronomical print run on the product and the odds of pulling one are exceptionally slim. It's not like your standard UD box break where you're guaranteed at least two in a box. I've spent more money on McDonald's hockey packs than actual McDonald's food some years and never pulled a GU, auto, or a parallel. And many of the super cards that are pulled are done so by little dudes or dudettes that don't go rushing to eBay to sell them for big bucks.

I was under the impression the McDonalds jerseys were very rare, therefore collectors go crazy for them

Ok, but the Sakic jersey, numbered to 231, and 140-odd were actually redeemed, because they were redemption cards for that year. Kids don't redeem cards, big kids do. So there's 140 of them floating around. Not THAT rare...........grrrrrrrrr

They are real rare lol, try finding 10 of the 140 copies...I pulled a Gigeure Patch Card one year DD

yeah...the ratio of pulling one is much worse than pulling a card in a regular hobby box...they probly make millions of those packs...plus if im not mistaken, the US stores don't participate (i could be wrong cause i don't eat fast food), which means people that have Sakic collections in the states are willing to also pay more because they have to buy the single

How do we know that there's 140 out there? They may not have issued the cards in sequential order. Could be 140, but there could just as easily be half or even a third of that number actually out there on the market.

Also, let's just say that there are 140. Ever tried to find an OPC parallel /100 a couple years after the product is out? It gets exceedingly difficult despite OPC being a very popular hobby set. Yeah you've got an extra 40 copies but you've also got several extra years of lag time.

The price guide's info stated that 140+ cards were redeemed out of the 231 produced. So they're out there..............as for the age thing; I bought me a 03/04 Pacific Heads-Up Sakic press plate a few weeks ago, there's only ONE of those and it ran me $37..........oh well, as long as I'm having fun :D

When Jersey cards were first printed by Upper Deck in 1996-97, they were inserted at a Ratio of 1:2,500 Packs.

I was told that the McDonald's Jerseys from 99-00 that were inserted, were at a Ratio of 1:3,500 packs, making them extremely Scarce and snapped up immediately.
