Real Madrid vs. Philadelphia Union
Hey guys, I know that not many people watch soccer too much here in the United States, but I just got back from the Real Madrid vs Philadelphia Union game mainly to see Cristiano Ronaldo and to try to get some autographs and here's what I got and how I got them.
This game was played at the Philadelphia Eagles stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, and I just want to say that the security there was less than gracious that day. I don't know if it was because of the volume of people there, or if it was because they were just being jerks, but nonetheless, it was not easy to get autographs.
I got there when the gates opened at 7:30, and I went down by the players tunnel. I saw that there were already some Real Madrid players on the field, but soon players started walking back to the locker rooms. First, I was able to get Madrid's star defender:
Sergio Ramos 1/1- signed my ticket
Then, I had a French national jersey that I wanted to get signed by Karim Benzema, young striker for Madrid, but instead I got it signed by one of the greatest soccer players ever, and probably the greatest French player ever:
Zidane: 1/1- now an assistant coach for Real Madrid, he came over and signed for a bunch of people, including signing my French National jersey.
Then the security started being strict and kicked most people out that didn't have tickets, despite the fact that it was an hour before game time and there wasn't anyone who had tickets in that section there. As I went to my seats, I saw that people that didn't have tickets went back down, but I figured that I would just be kicked out again.
I probably should have went back down as Cristiano Ronaldo started signing before he went into the locker room. I felt pretty bad afterwards, and I mostly was angry about the security there that was being very fan-unfriendly.
I then went back after the game to try and get some autographs and I just missed star goalkeeper Iker Casillas who signed about 3 jerseys and then went into the locker room.
All in all a pretty good day due to the fact that I didn't really expect to get anything and I got to see a great game that ended in a 2-1 finish, but I still feel pretty bad that I missed Ronaldo.

That is awesome. I don't think a lot of people realize that getting Zidane or Ronaldo is like getting Pujols or Jeter at a baseball game. Their autographs go for so much on ebay.

All the security people are employed by the Eagles. So it's not really surprising that they weren't fan friendly. Still sounds like you had great success! Congrats!

Amazing! The Zidane is to die for! He scored perhaps his best goal on Madrid as well! Congrats!

i went to the hotel 4 hours pregame and there were at least 100 people there. I threw my 11x14 in the trash and went to the tailgate to get drunk instead

Thanks a lot guys, Zidane was something I was really happy to come home with as he is arguably in the top 5 for greatest soccer players ever.
I absolutely agree with you jyosi and Eagles security is pretty bad Eddie, I go to training camp for the Eagles almost every year and it's pretty hard to get any autos there.
Hahaha slitz, I'm sure you had a better time getting drunk than failing getting any autographs. Like I said, the volume of people there at the game and I guess at the hotel was insane.
