A sentimental addition
Now, the cards I got today aren't very valuable cards money wise, but to me, they mean so much more. It was my birthday today, and I got 47 cards from my youngest brother, aged 11. It's the Topps 2010 Best of Chrome pack.
Words could not express how thankful I was to my brother for these cards. I got a great haul, too, a couple signed, and a couple refractors. In addition, my brother said he has a bunch of cards he got from kids in school, and he wants to give them to me to add to my collection.
Anyone got some great stories about family members giving them a bunch of cards?

When I was 9, my dad and I worked during one of our vacations so that I could memorize my multiplication facts. I did, and he gave me a bunch of 1970s Red Sox autographed cards.

It was my 12th birthday.
My dad got me two $2.99 retail packs of upper deck hockey series 1. Opened the first pick, nothing. Opened the second pack, and there it was....in the middle of the pack...a Sidney Crosby Young Guns rookie card.
Odds of getting a young guns rookie card - 1:4
Odds of getting a young guns crosby card - 1:1000
And I got one in retail.
Even though I could get 250 for it easily now, I'll never sell it.
Unfortunately my dad passed away. So it just remains in my binder all time. I don't give a crap about the condition, the corners, or anything.
As long as its there, I'm happy.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. That's a really awesome thing to have to remember him by. Good choice on not selling it, I could never sell something like that either.

My Dad gave me all his stuff when I was 13. Not only were the cards extremely valuable, but they meant a lot to me sentimentally! Also from that day on I became a collector!
Thanks Dad!
