    Question For Vintage Collectors!

    Hey Guys,

I recently was doing a search through some local ads and found a guy who has a 1910 C56 Tobacco Tall Boys card of Jim Jones (BV200) for sale for $150. The ad didn't list condition of the card but from what I can tell, this card is from the first set ever created. My question for you is do you think his price is fair? Do you think it would be a good investment?

    Thanks for your help!

Hiyas! Investment? Not so much, Jim Jones wasn't exactly Art Ross or Cyclone Taylor, knowwhudImean? It would be a nice piece to own from a historical standpoint, but that's about it. And like you said, no mention of condition........

I know Jim Jones wasn't exactly a huge name but again, it's a 100+ year-old card which is why it intrigues me a bit. I do wish I could find more about the condition :/

Like TeamChevelle said, condition is everything with vintage material.

For example: A PSA 3 Jim Jones books for $55, while a PSA 8 books for $900.

If you're going to pay $150 for it, you'll want it to grade PSA 5 or higher, since a PSA 5 books for $175.

Did you ask the owner about the condition? People will often price things high that don't know much about the hobby. You can always negotiate. At the price listed its not a good investment. The card isn't gonna go up in value, well maybe if he scores 60 goals or something :0
