The struggle to support local
To clarify – I am still fairly new to the hobby, so my familiarity with LCS prices is slim. There is only one LCS in the area, so I am sure that is a factor. I’m also in Canada, so that might be playing a role in prices on hockey product also.’
With all that said, I still have a hard time with the prices being charged at my LCS. I would like to support the store, and box breaks are fun, but with before taxes prices like….
$160 for ITG 80s
$250 for Contenders
$150 for Ultimate
…I can’t do it. Are these the prices you see in your area? Maybe these prices are the norm?

$140 Contenders
$110 Ultimate (for 2 or more otherwise $120)

Methinks you need to find a new shop. If you're in the Toronto area, you've got some options available.

contenders dropped to $93 today at the LCS by me and Luxury Suite was under $140 (before taxes)

mine is
ultimate 109.00
contenders 140.00
the problem i have is taxes, i cant afford to pay 25.00 in taxes on a product like this.
it defeats the worth, and the best place to buy is flea markets cause no taxes.
to buy a box for 100.00 and then tack on 20.00 in taxes, is just a lot of money.

Also $250 for contenders? Has he looked at prices on ebay and beckett? Prices book at $8 for some autos and sell for .99 on the bay.Guess you can charge whatever when your the only cardshop.

Where out west is that? Because I won't go for a visit.
