Need Help! How to mail a bulk lot over the border

    Hey Guys,

As the title says, I need to ship a bulk lot (roughly 425 GUs, Autos, and RCs) all to Canada. I've never done anything this big so I have no idea what is that most economical or conventional way to do this. I know the USPS offers flat-rate boxes but I'm not sure if they work internationally.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks so much for the help!

The best bet is mailing it in one single box. There is no getting away with the weight of the cards so do your best to fit them in the smallest possible dimension. USPS should be the cheapest method as well, the exact postage I don't know but from experience, this what best bet is.

In fact if you are close enough to the border, you can drive it across and ship it in Canada. If shipped from the states, Canada will more than likely look at it and potentially charge customs/tax to the receiver because of the pacakge size and weight.

Hope that helps. Dimensions and weight is key.

the flat rate boxes are what i would use -- i think a medium size flat rate should hold everything -- it would be $27.95 at the post office -- but a little less if you printed your postage from home -- and you could put a max of $675 of insurance on it and that would run an additional $10 on top - -- i sell a lot of vintage comics around the world and i always try and use the flat rate boxes and envelopes -- hope this helps --Mike

International flat rate is good, but that's all dependent on your weights. If you don't have a scale at home to get your weight to get an online quote, take it to the USPS. I'd pack it up in a single box card box. That way if you do go international flat rate you can just place that in a box, and some padding and be good to go. Sometimes a lot can be cheaper than the flat rate box, but the flat rate does have insurance built in if I remember correctly.

    425 Game Used cards?

That is very liable to be stolen. If you insure it, then whomever is on the other end is going to pay big duty,

I shipped around 80 inserts in a small collector box off to Quebec, I think... Cost me around $35. Course, this was FROM Canada TO Canada.

It's going to cost a bit, what with the size and weight. One of those bullets we have to bite, as traders. See if you can buy a frequent user card or something from your LPO... I have one, and it knocks 5% off the price, gives automatic $100 insurance and free tracking #'s...

    Just my 2 cents,

    Stu

flat rate box, and get insurance, I had 1 flat rate box get over to western Canada before a trader went to FL from western NY....

or you could have a buddy drive across the border since you live so close and pay for express post (only way to get tracking in canada)

feel free to text me if any questions

I recently sent around 250 cards to Russia, all in penny sleeves and toploaders, in a flat rate box and it wound up costing $45, which I'm assuming is going to be a bit more expensive than Canada, but at least you can ballpark it. Surprisingly weight wasn't too big a deal. I figured 250 cards in toploaders would've weighed upwards of 15 or 20 pounds and it wound up only being 7...
