    What Would You Do?

So, long story short, I messaged a member on this site because I had some cards that he wanted from his wantlist. I looked through his bucket and saw a good chunk of Hurricanes stuff (7 now, but 10 at the time) I needed for my all-time roster project...Hurricanes stuff which you just cannot find anywhere nowadays because everyone seems to disregard anything pre-lockout. He said they were all available for trade, so I ended up acquiring some more stuff from his wantlist to add into a possible trade. These stuff I acquired are not stuff that I really wanted in my collection and I gave up an Eberle item for them, but they seemed like great trade bait to get items highly sought after for my collection.

I sent him a PM afterwards regarding a trade involving the now four cards for the ones I needed...no response. I then sent another because there is the off-chance that the first did not get through...no response again. I'm not a new member with 0 feedback, he's definitely not a new member with 0 feedback. I understand ignoring a PM if a lowball offer or an offending user is involved, but anyone who has dealt with me knows how I am as a trader. I'm down to the point and I try to get a deal done as fairly as possible.

If you would be in my shoes, what would you do in this case? Would you keep messaging the person until they finally respond, or would you cut your losses and hopefully find someone who by chance happens to have the cards you need and someone who by chance wants the cards you acquired as trade bait?

I intentionally left out names, and important details so the other person doesn't feel attacked.

I can't stand disrespectful traders! I am trying really hard to get my first 20 trades in, I am more than fair, I almost always add bonuses and always ship securely and right away...I made a small deal a with a trader to sell him a few RCs for non-gifted paypal, two weeks after I sent to him I sent him a pm asking him if he got his cards...he said he did and that he would send paypal... I waited almost a week and pm'd him again asking him if he could send me the paypal so we could close the trade and so I could leave him positive feedback. He immediately paid, with gift paypal (so I didn't get my full amount) and even after I left him positive feedback he still hasn't left me any feedback. I'm probebly better off not asking him for the feedback because he will likely leave me something nasty.

Oh, I should point out that in the time between me sending him the cards and him receiving them, the cards dropped substantially in value (still worth more than the selling price though), but, although that is out of my cotrol, I feel that is the reason for his negligence in completing an otherwise smooth transaction!

Thanks for sharing IrbeFan4Life, and thanks for listening...I really hope your next trade is with someone who is more respectful than your last one...we are all here to trade and have fun, but a little venting is needed when these situations arise.

How long have you given him to respond? Some guys on here simply aren't on very often or don't respond to messages that often. I messaged a guy once who had a key Evander Kane I needed, didn't hear from him for 2 weeks, then he messaged me saying he was busy with work and didn't have time to get back to me.

I'd give them 2 weeks or so and if nothing happens then I would try to sell them elsewhere.

I randonly clicked on his profile and different times seen his "green light" meaning that he was online, but still gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited a week.

Thanks for all of the input everyone!

I'm not sure if the question was directed at me, but I sent my second message (after the one that got a reply) in the July 15-20 range, and one more time since. No reply from a member who is on pretty much everyday.

It's just frustrating because how often can you take care of early 2000s Hurricanes certified auto cards in such quantities?

Bruce, I've traded with you. I KNOW how you are as a trader. You are one of the best traders this hobby has ever seen!

Honestly, the efforts you have made to try to complete that deal go TOO far and above the call of duty. I'm thinking I should start a petition to start trading for and sending to you those 'Canes wants.

I'm going to start actively searching that stuff for you- there's not a lot of Fleury stuff out there, so I need a new project, anyways, LOL!!!
