i don't get it.............
ok..here is what i don't get...so i opened a case of luxury suite some time ago..and i decided to go thru my stuff last night..while going thru it i came across a redemption i had not redeemed..it was for a group 3 rookie numbered to 499..so i redeemed it only to see it is of pk subban..he is considered a level 3 rookie??? i would have thought at very least a level 2 patch auto to 299..i personal think he should be in the number 1 lineup in all of the products containing his rookie card..i mean some of the level 2 rookies in this set i just don't get..jordan caron??? kevin shattenkirk?? over subban ?? i am not a big fan of his by any means.but i have to call them the way i see them..and he is going to be one heck of a player in years to come..he already showed that in his rookie season..so to put him near the bottom of the totem poll makes no sense to me..but i am just a collector..

The reason that Panini had to put him in lower tiers for all AU/MEM rookie cards is very simple: they didn't have a jersey. Subban was at the 09-10 Rookie Photoshoot, the last year of the Upper Deck monopoly, so they were able to get oodles of his jerseys (I will refrain from making a joke about how they botched management of his sticker autos to the point that his SPx RC was a redemption) and everything well in advance.
Panini did have a signing session with Subban in Dallas in December when the Habs came to town, and I'm assuming that they were able to get him to thrown on a jersey or two at that point. Even then, most products were already well under development, so Dominion is going to be the only Panini product this year that will have Subban memorabilia in it.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

would love to hear the story about how UD botched sticker autos of Subban. And technically does UD have sticker autos of Hodgson stored somewhere too?

They had all sorts of autos of Subban in products like Artifacts, Black Diamond, OPC, and UD1 but didn't keep enough stock around to ensure live RCs in SPx.

If they were more astute they would have ensure that they'd kept sufficient numbers around to get the 499 SPx RC's live and minimized the use of the stickers in other products where the autographs would have been in a secondary set. Getting P.K. to sign/return cards in a timely fashion has been a challenge for both companies this year (just look at all the redemption cards out there in just about every product) but for something as key in that part of the product calendar, they didn't properly prioritize what to do with their stock.

You know I feel bad for these players, getting hassled everywhere for autographs and their equipment so people can cut them up. Maybe they like the attention and I know they are getting paid, but they have so much money coming there way shortly anyway, wouldn't companies like UD and Panini get annoying?
