Who on the forum has been deployed to a war zone?
Well, looks like my time has come. Joined the National Guard as a gateway to get into the civil service while doing college, and it looks like the Infantry needs me to go to Afghanistan. Im actually a 42A (Human Resource Spec.) and chose that to get training for a human resources job in the civilian sector after college. My dad was deployed to 5 war zones himself, vietnam, grenada, desert sheild and storm etc. and I know all the stories he has told me about them places. Im just curious what its like to be deployed in the Afghan/Iraq region. I got my best friend overseas right now with the 131st AVN BN who is in Iraq and says its pretty good. I'm in college ROTC and I have about 8 months to make up my mind, on whether I want to deploy right now as a Specialist (Will make rank in about....3 months) or contract with ROTC and do My College Business degree (Which is hard enough and lots of time devoted in itself...) or manage Business and military activities at my university. Just thought I'd see how many other forum members have been shipped to the sand box, and what they have faced as possible decisions. Im not sure if I can contract as the list is about to be locked up for deployment.

I am in the Air Force and deployed last year to Iraq for 4 months doing TCN. This is guarding Third Country Nationals when they go to secured/classified locations, i.e. flight line, Command Section, Housing Area and some constructions sites. It was pretty fun and I like it. I am reying to go to Afgahnistan but the position that I have now will not let me. Some good times. You are going to have people acting stupid but for the most part I loved it.
