how do we know they are real?
okay, so after the cups last fail photo there, it got me thinking, how do we know the jerseys in the cards are actually real, and how do we know they were GAME worn
i mean, they could go to walmart, and buy jerseys for kids(unoficial, and use the pieces.
they coould buy new(not game used) send a random guy out a bit, and then slap them in, saying they are used in a game.
they can say anything really, how do we know that it is true?
i know autos are true(at least i hope so lol) , but im really not sure on the jerseys, whether they are new, just worn by anyone on that players team, or if they are actually game(not practice) worn by the player on the card.
when i see thing like goalie on a player card, or colors that team doesnt wear, i begin to wonder.

Normally I would disagree. However, as cool as it is to have a tiny, tiny piece of an actual jersey worn in a game by the player on the card, if no one knows there's no problem.
If it was found out that they aren't actual game worn by the player on the card, it would plummet the values of JSY and patches and probably make the autos even more lucrative. It would also tick enough people off that the risk isn't really worth it.

When there are so many jerseys cards of Yzerman, Sakic, Roy, Lemieux, Crosby and players of he like there are bound to be times when a company says.....
Oh no more Yzerman RED Jersey left? Just use the Red Draper Jersey, we've got lots of that left, nobody will suspect anything.
I would bet I am not wrong in this hypothesis.

In the end you're buying it for the card. Try pulling a swatch out and putting it on Ebay. I'd be willing to bet it's pretty worthless. If you want a game worn jersey, buy a game worn jersey.
Obviously not everyone can afford Game Worn jerseys, including me, which makes jersey cards that much more cool, because at least I can own a piece of it. Thing is, some jersey cards go for more than some jerseys. You're either a card collector, or a jersey collector. Jersey cards is just where those two hobbies overlap.
Whether the swatch is "real" or not, I want the card and it's valued at X. Actually, finding out the swatches and patches aren't "real" would benefit me, as it would drop the values of a lot of cards I consider really cool.
Just remember you're buying a card with a piece of jersey in it, not a piece of jersey with a card around it.

I'm a card collector
I think it's cool that jerseys are in products, but I only think it's cool if it is real
I wouldn't buy a card that has a picture of my player, and a piece of a table cloth on it
It may look similar, but it isn't something I would buy
